Twelve Christmas Plans

So on the penultimate day of Twelvsies her Tartness Gives to YOU, Twelve Christmas Plans!!! And by Christmas plans, I mean Christmas BREAK plans. The University gives us four season days each year, and we are encouraged to take them between Christmas and New Years, so I am OFF all week! (and when I say off, I mean the OTHER kind of off from the way I am always off). I actually took a vacation day Thursday, Friday was a holiday (because Saturday was the ACTUAL holiday so they give it the day before)... so a couple of these things I already did... a couple I will do this week...

1)  Polish the Cozy yet again... my agent's changes have all been addressed, but you KNOW how the trickle effect goes... plus... I can't seem to help myself when it is in my hot little hands—I have to polish again (and am always amazed the things that MISSED the polish last time...) I am currently half way through but plan to concentrate HEAVILY on this today. I'd like my agent to have it soon. I ALSO got feedback from Super-Rayna on it and Cruella has it for a read to make sure they don't see anything glaring.

2)  Childing Movie Marathon—we rented 5 movies on Wednesday night (well actually we rented two, had a coupon for a 3rd and both the ones we rented were 'rent a new, get an old free')... so in the last 4 days we watched Inception, The Grudge (nice and christmassy, that, ye?), Lost Boys (okay, only I watched this... kids were snobs), Easy A (I only listened), one of the American Pies (also only listened)--we have a deep disagreement on humor..., Godfather, A Christmas Story, Princess Bride and Kick-Ass. There will be more.

3)  Finish this edit of LEGACY. I only have about 30 pages left on this round, then I want to get it to a few fabulous first readers who have volunteered.

4)  Do a read of Kahlotus Disposal Site and mark sections that need writing/cleaning for Amazon contest. This will NOT be clean enough to win the contest, but I think it is my sexiest idea and I hope I can have it ready to maybe make the first two phases. I am going to have to commit like I would for a WriMo for this if I want it ready by the end of January, but I have had a HORRIBLE habit of writing but not cleaning, and I just really want to have a couple works really close to there... 2011 will be the year of the QUERY!

5)  Mapping my plan... see... if January is for cleaning up Kahlotus... and early February is for a final polish (with peer feedback) of LEGACY... well... I just want to map my full year like this so nothing falls through the cracks...

6)  Make a log: I plan to track my writing and editing time this year because... you know... I'm a geek that way. My boss's niece went with us for our spa day and we were next to each other for the pedicure portion and she asked a bunch of GREAT questions... about things like 'how long it takes to write a book'--and I thought, while I have SOME idea, that idea doesn't incorporate all the CLEANING of a book I need to do... I want to know... Possibly I am just a masochist who wants affirmation that this is not even a minimum wage venture...

7)  (because 7 is the most magically powerful number) kids and I are going to our second round of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on Tuesday. I don't see many movies in the theater twice, but this one I am happy to.

8)  Blog my next year: by that, I mean, once twelvsies is over (tomorrow) my week will be a bit of a plan in my various domains for next year (like that writing plan... you will see it HERE)

9)  Pay my January bills... see, in December we get our check before Christmas instead of the last day of the month, and I always manage to goof planning because it SEEMS like we have extra money, but REALLY it is just EARLY money... It will be easier to remember we don't really have it if I pay our bills with most of it.

10)  WEBSITE. I bought a web domain almost 2 months ago and have done NOTHING because I've had no time... well this week? I've got a little time! WAHOO!

11)  Desk area together... I may WRITE mostly from the bathtub, but I type, blog, network... from a corner of my basement that is a DISASTER. I'd like to get it ordered this week...

12)  And finally, I plan to at least sort of sleep in every day... yes, 9:00 is acceptable, though 10:00 is better... I just don't get that much vacation time and when it is TIME, it is TIME!

So there you have it... my Christmas Vacation...

Sounds like a wonderful plan! I think I get more done over Christmas break than I do for the 13 weeks I'm laid off over the summer (I work for a non-profit, not a school district, so my time off is different than other teachers). Something about a time crunch.

Glad to hear you're going for ABNA again - here's to both of us making it through the pitch round! Luckily, mine is about as polished as it's going to get, so I'll be working on my WIP instead of editing in the next few weeks (hopefully).

Have a great vacation!

Enjoyed the post. Got me thinking about keeping a writer's log too -- just how MANY hours do I spend on this? My hubby says that if I got a dollar an hour, we'd be rich; I don't know if I want that confirmed or not, LOL!

Will be watching for the writing plan. Good luck with the office cleanup and the web site!

You're on the right track with a plan. I get lost just trying to come up with a plan. :) Hope you and your family had a very Merry Christmas and the new year brings much success and happiness.

Not bad, not bad. Your doing better than me on the writing part. I've been busy too with family and friends and haven't written a word yet. I hope I'll get something done next 4-5 days >:)

I'm inspired. Of course many of your plans are identical to my plans but with different names on the various wips... I am in the midst of cleaning out step-son's room as he has chosen to live full time with his mother as I am wicked and he's been out of it for three months so Ron and I decided we needn't keep a messy shrine to him. Then we can move Felix (the German student) into that room (by tonight!) and I'll get my office back with a bed for bad snoring nights. OHMYGOD ICANTWAIT. So I'm just taking a break from that and then I'll go back at moving tiny pieces of lego, agonizing song lyric bits, and thousands of feet of various cable and wires for electronic shit.
Now that's a plan!
the lad and I are watching season three of the Wire which is great. We were supposed to get a storm but as soon as Barney's Version hits the local screens we're going to that.
oh kay back to work. love ya kid!

A busy four days; and yes, sleeping in til 10a is better than 9a :)

I hope you get it all accomplished. I took two weeks off and haven't been able to get a thing written on my short story. My family doesn't agree that time off from my day job should be spent closeted away with my computer . .

Good luck, and happy vacation :)

Sounds like a wonderful plan! I also work at a University and we have this week off too. And they also pay us in advance! We plan to get a few movies too, I plan to find ways to write more and somewhere in all my plans there is cleaning... or maybe not...

How great you get four days off! And how typical of you to spend most of that time working and writing and editing. And I also wanna see the Deathly Hallows a second time. Damn, it's serious gloomy stuff, isn't it? But since I read the final book I knew what was coming.

And Hart -- Maybe by February my crazy schedule will open up a little bit, and I'd LOVE to spend some time then being a reader for anything you wanna throw my way. I'd be honored to read a work by the great Naked Tart.

Erica-so true that a LITTLE time gets used like crazy and a lot trickles away! Good for you having your ABNA work totally ready--I thought I did last year, but the one that will be closest to READY this time, i want to actually query...

Dani-WELCOME! Yeah, my hubby is pretty sure this writing thing will NEVER pay...

Mason-see I am GREAT at coming up with plans. It is FOLLOWING a plan where it falls apart...

Jenny-THANK YOU! And yes, I figure if the bills are paid, they can't turn anything off or throw us out... though we still may go hungry... I think we've got that figured out though.

Simon-it's coming. Mine are 15 and 12 and I think we've had about 2 years now of both sleeping in, but about 3 more than that of them leaving me alone once they got up (television is a great thing)

Jan-I so completely can't imagine anyone thinking your the wicked step-mom! Good to just go ahead and move on though--he made his bed, now he will realize he's stuck with it. Good luck with all the other plans!

Donna-the trick is you need to be MEANER to them so they are happy to have you hide away! teehee--Thanks for the luck! making progress... but SLOWLY.

Su-Oh, I'm not always this sensible. I've just had several January's in a row where I've gotten STUCK (finally learned).

Sarah--two words: Eighties hair. Much scarier than ANY vampire movie...

Cassandra--BAH! on the cleaning! BAH! I say! erm... mostly... I did clean a little Thursday and Friday, as I knew hubby would be happier.

Helena-I would LOVE it if you want to give something a read! Thank you so much for the offer! I will give a shout closer to the time! (and yes... depressing DH, but I LOVE those books and this movie stayed truest IMHO...)

ACK!!! I just commented back to everyone! And I was very clever and it was great reading and blogger ATE IT! GADS I hate blogger sometimes... let's try again a couple at a time...

Erica- totally agree that a LITTLE time can be totally productive, but more gets sucked away somehow... And good for you for having your ABNA done!!! I just want to have a COUPLE books going, and the one that is almost done I feel has a better shot through querying (it is part of a trilogy and I don't want to be STUCK with it... not that I'd win, but... you know... if I did...

Dani-WELCOME! Yes... my hubby is sure none of this will ever really pay *sigh*... Now if I could just prove him WRONG!

Mason-Oh, I am GREAT at making a plan... it is FOLLOWING a plan I have trouble with... (and THANK YOU!)

Jenny-yes... I figure if the bills are paid, they can't kick me out or turn anything off, so that's something... (especially in winter).

CaH--I hope you're having a GREAT time with family and friends! If I was closer to more of mine, I'm sure I would be, too...

Okay, sending now because last time it said 'too big' will finish comments next post...

I WISH I could sleep in! I haven't made it past 8 in forever!! Sounds like you've got all your plans in place. :)

That list of movies is very diverse and impressive. Blogging your entire year? Good luck with that.

I have been wondering if I should buy my own site too. But then I think of the work that would take. Nah.

I think I need a nap after reading this! You've got a lot planned! Good luck and I totally agree about sleeping in. However, I have to get up early or I get a headache. My trick is to get up, wait a couple hours, and take a really long nap:)
