So some of yibus might have noticed we are throwing out a big THANKS to Alex this week for all his fabulosity in making this blogosphere for writers feel more like family and less like work. He has made a huge contribution to the friendliness, enthusiasm, and community. So I thought I’d write him a song.
[Note: I've discovered this also serves as evidence that I don't follow directions well, but there you have it]
He’s a music enthusiast, right? But see, I can’t write music. In fact if my daughter is to be believed I can't even sing. But I can BORROW music and write new words, yeah? I thought about a Rush song, but I am not nearly familiar enough with the cadence to get it right, but I decided you really can’t go wrong with Aerosmith… so here we have it…
We've never seen Alex because he's a ninja.... |
Keystroke lover always writin' in the closet
Till you talked to your editor, he say
He said "you can't sell nothin' till you're into socializin
in the media--be a-changin' your ways"
You met some new friends, with advice that never ends
Oh, the times you were oh so close
'Cause the best things of bloggin' spillin something from your noggin
Only started with a little post
The most!
If we COULD see him, he'd look like this. |
And Kate Beckinsale up on the wall
Singin' "hey diddle diddle"
Ninja kitty in the middle of the swing
Like you didn't care
So you took a big test in this giant blogfest
With two hundred folks ready to play
Wasn't them you was foolin'
'Cause you knew what you were doin'
And your blog love was here to stay
When you told us to
Blog this way
Just gimme a post
The most!
Captain ninja with a classy kinda sassy
Air guitar that we just can’t see
There were three new releases coming out next week
When you noticed they was lookin' at you
You were a brand new blogger, never shared a new author
Till your friends told you somethin' you missed
Then my blogroll neighbor with two books had a favor
So you gave her just a little post
The most!
Fingers tappin' with the A to Z crowd
And Kate beckinsale up on the wall
Singin' "hey diddle diddle"
Ninja kitty in the middle of the swing
Like you didn't care
So you took a big test in this giant blogfest
With two hundred folks ready to play
Wasn't them you was foolin'
'Cause you knew what you were doin'
And your blog love was here to stay
When you told us to
When you told us how to blog this way, you told us to
[Repeat x8]
Blog this way
Just gimme a post!
[My apologies to Steven Tyler. Call me. I’ll make it up to you.]

Hart, that is so awesome!!!! I'm still laughing. Heck with singing - you can do lyrics. Thanks for putting so much into this song for me. You rock!!!!!
H Hart - love this .. Alex is so amused - and I wish I could write lyrics like that - but Alex will happily be strumming your song ...
Love those pictures too - can't see the Ninja and his wife in that dining room - cept on special occasions .. but the rocking Ninja gladiators - now that's another story ..
Cheers Hilary
Oh my God, that's too funny! You timed it perfectly with the real lyrics, too.
teehee--glad you liked it, Alex. I thought you'd get a kick out of that.
Excellent adaptation, Hart! And of course, Alex used his ninja skills to sense you had posted, then sneak in and be the first to comment. I don't know how he does it.
Song is officially stuck in my head now, and I think Alex owes it you (US!) to record himself playing this with his band (you know they can). Has YouTube sensation written all over it. :-)
Okay, those ninjas with guitars can't be better suited. Great post, Hart! Loved your tribute to "the man" Alex. Thanks for participate'n! :)
Awesome, Hart! I know that song by heart, and you nailed it. GREAT, original idea. One of the best I've read in my travels. Fearing I'll never see his picture. You have a huge chance of winning since you wrote something for him to play on that guitar...jealous!

Ok, I had Walk This Way playing in the background as I read your post and OMG, awesome, just awesome. you've got some serious lyrical writing skills! JUST GIMME A POST! xD
Hart - Don't apologize to S. Tyler 'cause this was great! And how perfect to write something Alex can sing and play to.
Personally, I'm still mortified that I spaced out joining the Alex blogfest, twit that I am. Here's to you, Ninja Alex.
Alex rocks!!!
What an astounding tribute to Alex. I bet you win.
It's okay to break the rules when you do it in order to produce something exceptionally creative. Maybe you should become a rapper. (Please don't) Okay, a lyricist.

Ah-haha! You are BRILLIANT... absolutely bowing down to this post. That, is talent. ;-)
*giggles* Thanks so much guys! I had fun. This altered lyrics thing is something I used to do with friends, both when I was young, and in my Harry Potter days.
haha, great job on the lyrics :)

This was off the wall crazy. Loved it! Blog this way... yeah!
Great tribute!
This was just hilarious! What an awesome tribute to the man behind the mask:)
This song was so creative. I listened to the music while I read and it fit right in. :)
