Some Weighty Limmericks

Wouldn't the chair defense be nice?
*as if *

I fear I have fallen in a rut
Due to the ever growing size of my butt
I know I must run
It even is fun
But I can't control what I put in my gut.

Erm...

I really don't want to be thick
But why can't a diet be quick
It would sure be a winner
If a spell made me thinner
Now if I could just find that dumb stick

Running can sure make me sore
but thank goodness it isn't a bore
I have my good friends
as we tighten our ends
But I wish it would tighten them MORE.

You see my friends... the couch to keg program is BACK ON!

My daughter is taking a Personal Fitness class at school and their primary goal is to build to running a 5K (sound familiar) though they are jumping in much faster (as teens can do), but my daughter said they are allowed, for their final, to run a road race instead of a written final and she invited me to join. That jump started me, so here we go...

I am still having trouble with the eating end. Life is too stressful for active dieting... in fact it is really too stressful to THINK about eating. I do try to get my nutrients... I have a business meeting in Hawaii in May, so I suppose setting that as a goal date might motivate... won't want to wear many clothes there... for the moment, though, I am going to be happy with the Couch to Keg...

Maybe I will set the 23rd for the diet start date—that is 4 months before my next birthday, which seems ANOTHER good goal...

And As a final note: today would have been my grandma's 89th birthday. Happy birthday, grandma!

Good luck with with that, Tami! I need to do something myself, but it's just too cold to think about it. I've put a stone back on in the last year... not good. I really don't want to go back to where I started though, so I am at least trying to eat less crap rather than actual dieting. If I can stay where I am for the moment it would be a start.

And Happy Birthday Hartma!!

Love the limericks. :) Doing the run with your daughter sounds like a great idea! More fun than some of the other options, for sure.

How great your daughter wants to run with you! I know you'll both do well. (Medals all around!)

"Running can sure make me sore" is my favorite today :0)

it's so difficult to find the time, especially when you're so crazy stressed as you've been!

Weight Watchers still works and is the least restrictive of programs. It even allows you to splurge once a week! And nice tribute to your Grandma.

Whenever I head to the keg, I seem to end up heavier. Weird.

awesome limericks! I should post those on my fridge, along with the first photo in this post :-) Good look on your running...I am patiently waiting for spring so I can strap on my running shoes and...oh hell, who am I kidding? I'm lazy. And I make kick-ass chocolate chip cookies.

Ha! Love that top picture. Good for you, Hart! Last night as we went to bed my husband informed me that we too are going to begin to take walks and lead into jogging. I had a hard time going to sleep after I heard those plans, though I know that he is right, lol.

Love the first picture!! My husband and I bought an oversized chair just after we got married (only 5 years ago). We could sit next to each other in the chair with plenty of room. Now our butts don't fit. Not even close.

When I think about dieting, it makes me hungry. Today my goal is not to lose weight but to lower my cholesterol. That doesn't make me hungry. I know it's stupid, but it works for me.

Where oh where did you find the picture of the butt chairs? I love those!

I think the key to dieting is to try to make sure you're never hungry. A strict South Beach regime helped me get rid of the ten extra lbs I had after child #2. Whenever I start to bulk up I fall back on that.

I want some of those chairs :D

we're on weekl 3 of the couch to 5k. We plan on doing Warrior Dash in Sept, but before that, in June, we desperately want to do this:

Run For Your Lives

Love the limericks :)

Since I don't seem to be able to control what I eat either ... good luck with your diet and fitness program.

It is SO hard to stay in shape while being a writer -- too much sitting at a computer, sitting and editing, sitting and reading. But spring is coming, the days are getting longer, and you'll be looking good for your Hawaii trip (I am so jealous).

good for you for getting moving. I fell off of my diet - it is pretty easy when I'm on - I never get hungry - it is no wheat, sugar or booze and the rest is just a basic cave-woman diet - vegetables and protein. I lost about seven pounds in January but I may have packed them back on in the last couple of weeks. I don't look. I don't open bills. I live with Cleopatra in de Nile.

Ugh, running. I hate running. But I don't mind the gym. I also exercise by doing Just Dance on Wii when the kids are at school. I also try to make myself do one leg/butt exercise and one ab exercise every day - building a habit is really important (and I slip a lot, but just forgive yourself and move on).

You know I'm training for the Kalamazoo Half Marathon, right? There's also a 5K. So if y'all wanna come to the Zoo to run, we can have calorie free adult beverages afterwards. (yup, all food post-marathon are 0s)

I'm also with you on the eating better... DESPERATELY wanting to get back down to my Lifetime weight and to reveal the 6-pack that seems to be hibernating for the winter... ;)

This winter I've done fairly well with not eating like a pig and I'm actually below my summer weight. But exercise? I just can't make myself go outside into the cold. My body cringes. My feet dig in. And the only thing that does it is the fact that my poor dog is crossing his legs in agony. Ok. kidding. But I'll be real glad when spring gets here and I can get running again :)

Good luck training!
