Lazy Blog

Halo, fine friends! To let all of you know, I have managed all my editing and will send my Cozy to my agent late this morning after another glance, but I am diving into NaNoWrimo, so my blogging in November might be slightly diminished. I thought I would start off with a blog fest that seemed perfectly made for the month...

Summer, at ...and this time concentrate! had a great idea for the busy WriMos... so I am definitely on board with it... she called it the LAZY BLOGFEST!

The idea is to share our workspace...

Now those of you who've seen me do this before will have to excuse me, but for anyone new... THIS is where I write...

90% of my writing happens here, as does about 60% of my editing. The warm water relaxes me and manages to turn off the stress and strain of my normal day, and mellows the math brain that makes me sound like a scientific bot during the day.

During a WriMo, I also write at my computer in my basement, which is an embarrassingly messy area... I keep intending to clean it up, but even then will be a space not worthy of sharing.

The PLAN

BWUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA *cough*

For the rest of November, I will be folling back on mnemes... I don't usually resort to them, but it is easier and should reduce how much time it takes me to plan and write blogs... that said, I am going to SURPRISE YOU as to what I cover each day's mneme will be... so there.

it doesn't seem like the tub would be very comfortable for writing. When I was younger my brother and I were sent to the tub for being bad. It was worse than going to our room. Nothing to do in the tub. We weren't allowed to bathe or sleep.

I'm curious... Have you ever dropped your notebook in the water?!

oooh a surprise - I love surprises!

Looking forward to surprises >:)

And don't worry about your messy basement. You should have seen ours, and it would make you relax. In the basement we have the following stuff: A wide screen TV, a Playstation with a spaghetti of wires and remote controllers, an electric guitar (sometimes two), a drum set, two big boxes with wires for the computers (no one knows exactly what they're for), a bookshelf, my collection of heavy metal CDs, two cupboard stored in a corner (no one has bothered to put them up), 5 big boxes of unknown content(haven't been opened for years) and various ski boots, goggles and helmets. I bet that makes your basement appear like a very clean and tidy place >:)

Nice! I'm looking forward to some highlights. It's always good to share your favorite entries from the past, because so many people may not have read them... good luck with NaNo.

Wow! Spiral notebooks in the bathtub! Great idea! I use spiral notebooks all the time while outside wathing the little ones. It helps me edit as I go when I type it in the computer too.:)

I have tried to read and write in the tub, but it's a problem with the wet hands and paper. Any dry-hand strategies up your sleeve?

Good luck with your NaNo! I'm looking forward to seeing what memes you write around. Congrats on submitting the cozy!

My bathtub is made for hobbits, I swear, and the body parts sticking out get all cold and uncomfortable (meaning my butt is the only thing that stays warm.) So while I think that this is a great idea in theory, it just won't work for me. However, there is a lovely chair in the library that's looking interesting...

M.J. Nicholls said...

I'm with Chris: how do you hold up the pad? Don't your knees stick out and get cold? What if you knock over the brown fluid? What if someone needs to pee when you're in there? I need answers. Honestly.

oh jeesh I just did this and the stooooopid computer ate it.
I have a room that only has a bathtub and a sink in it - I call it 'my other office' but I don't write in it. Just read. I wouldn't mind writing in bed but my laptop is too rinky dink.
So it is down here in the den for me with the smelly dog and a view of the chickens.
I'm nano-ing in my own rebellious way - done for today though. I suppose I'll do mneme's too if I knew what you meant. I know what a mneme is but not in this context. I guess everyone else does (pointed looks around the virtual room) or they'd ask you, eh?

Awesome! I do all my best thinking in the shower, that's for sure. But I'm way too uncoordinated for that--I'd drop the notebook in for sure.

Unknown said...

I love it! I've got to give writing in the bath a try. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten out of the shower to jot brilliant story ideas that seem to hit me most while bathing. And yet, I never thought about composing in the tub. Thanks for sharing!! And best of luck with Nano :))

I show my space today on my blog One Significant Moment at a Time. Stop over!

You're planning to blog each day?!!!! Impressive!

As for the workspace, that's usually my reading and thinking space. I would be so relaxed that coherent thoughts would melt onto the floor....love it!

Good luck with NaNo, and congrats for getting the cozy to the agent. I can't write longhand, so I'm tied to either laptop (which is mobile) or my PC.

Great news about the cozy, and knowing you, the memes will be great.
All the best for NaNoWriMo.

I would love to write in my bath because I love my bath but my glasses fog up....so that puts end to that dream.

Good luck with the NaNo Challenge.

Congrats on this finish!
Can't wait to see what you have in your meme arsenal.

I should've posted my spot!
The bathtub would be great, but when I write, I tend to get up about a dozen times to retrieve items I've forgotten. I can see me dribbling water all over the house!

Hart Johnson said...

holy cow! Look at all these posts! You people are FABULOUS! I am going to address the QUESTIONS... (mostly)

PTM-didn't your mom know that would make you hate baths?

Rachel-yes, I have, but not often. I've had the CAT fall in me more than I've had the notebook fall in.

CaH-that IS a lot of stuff! Though we have a lot of toys we haven't yet bothered purging, off season clothes, exercise equipment... I think we could give you a run for your money...

Chris, there is a towel rack behind my head (see the towel back there?) so I dry the hands (and face) regularly--face sweats as I like my water fairly hot.

Heather, I'd be so sad with a hobbit bath! I really want a nice DEEP one. Maybe with a SEAT.

mark, notepad goes on the SIDE, not knees, though I want one of those things that goes across. Brown liquid (hard lemonade in the pic) is pretty stable. Peeing people just have to deal with an audience. They had their chance before I got in.

Jan, I read in there before I wrote.

Nicole, I'll be sure to drop over!

Word Crafter-maybe not every day, but most. They won't be my normal wordy standard though.

Ann-glasses would be a problem! I am near sited, so okay with reading and writing. I'd be in trouble if I tried to drive in the bath, though.

LDiane-well my husband complains I have a whole office in our bathroom, so I might have to STAND on occasion, but everything I need sort of LIVES there...

Eric W. Trant said...

In the tub? Really.

I suppose it means you don't have to get up for the use the restroom, so I can see how it might save time and keep you concentrating on that manuscript.

That tub looks awfully uncomfortable. I can't believe you haven't bought yourself some sort of rubber back rest!!!! No wonder you had dislocated whatever you dislocated the last time you said you dislocated something. LOL

LTM said...

lol at you still writing in the tub. :D I'm w/Jess, I don't know how you get comfortable in there! But whatever works, right! Awesome re: edits... I'm almost to the end of my additions. Best of luck w/Nano! :o) <3

Dawn Ius said...

I'm doing Nao as well. Good luck! And I'll still look forward to your posts...and surprise memes.

RosieC said...

Congrats on hitting your word count for the day already. I also don't know how you get comfortable enough in the tub, and I would think I would need lots of extra equipment--bath pillow, tub-desk, water-proof computer :) --but somehow I'm sure you have all that covered. Good luck!

Lola Sharp said...

I read in a hot bath all the time, and take an occasional note, but never write-write.
When I shower, I often have to get out and jot notes down while dripping wet, so I prefer the bathtub. (I keep a pen nearby and just jot the note on the back of whatever book I'm reading.)

I know you think it's being naked...but I tell you, I write lotsof good stuff fully clothed. ;)

Love,
Lola

Hart Johnson said...

I actually HAVE a tub pillow, but it gets COLD. I actually mostly sit criss cross turned sideways during the active writing part, then lean back to read, review, plot... I don't know... it works for me.

The injury was EDITING because my NOTES were on the floor and I kept having to lean over to LOOK at them and then make my changes... it was the LEANING...

Speaking of... I really need to get to my shower today! Though I love these lazy days I can put it off to mid day...

I am sure my clutziness would cause me to electrocute myself writing on my laptop in the tub, so I'll leave it to you, the expert!

Katie Anderson said...

Hehehe, bet that's not what all the other blog hoppers were expecting! My own blogfest entry seems so boring now :)

C R Ward said...

This has got to be the most unique writing space of the whole blogfest. :-D

I've read in the tub but I don't think I'd ever try writing while in the tub.

Wow, I am in total awe. I know I'd drop the pen, then the paper, then the pen in the water! They don't call you Watery Tart for nothin'!

Melissa said...

I think writing in the bath - for me - would be a disaster waiting to happen, considering I write on my laptop! It'd probably kill me! Death by electrocution is not in my Life Plan. (Not that I have one of those)

I envy you the relaxation you must feel!

Southpaw said...

I don't think I'd get much writing done in the tub. I'd go off into la-la land.

Helena said...

You lazy? Oh please. You're so productive in or out of the tub, you make me look like a comatose slug.

Hart Johnson said...

*giggles* you can see why I am resisting a Kindle. A dropped book or notepad is one thing, a dropped $200 device is another.

Holly-that trip to lala land is necessary to turn off my inner statistician.

Helena- comatose slug? *snicker* You are not, but I love the phrase.

Jane Kennedy Sutton said...

Congratulations on getting your manuscript off!

I love the picture of your workspace, but I can’t help wondering when you get in that zone where the writing is coming fast and furious how shriveled do your toes get before you get out!?!

Jennifer Hoffine said...

I've heard water frees the imagination, but I've never heard of anyone taking it to this extreme. Still, it does look relaxing!

Unknown said...

that is SO COOL!! I only ever READ in the bathtub *must start writing there*

good luck with NaNo! Are we buddies yet? I've kind of lost track... (I'm Tessa C over there)...

Unknown said...

Haha I love that you write in the bathtub! I read in the tub now and then, but I've never tried writing there!

Cheeseboy said...

Great plan. Excellent blogging plan.

Glad you don't use your laptop in the tub. That could be considered a hazard.

Just Another Sarah said...

Hahaha! Very honest. Sounds comfy. :)

Meredith said...

Oh, wow, I can hardly even read in the bathtub! I'm much too clumsy, and the book nearly always gets wet. But that would be such a relaxing way to write!

Denise Covey said...

Oh the lengths some people go to be different! As Rach asked, do you ever drop your book in said bath? I imagine a mad scramble. Like the look of the drinkie. Obviously it works for you, sending your Cozy off. The best for that!

Love it! Good luck with NaNoWriMo...:)
