First Loves Blogfest

This color:  red-violet--my earliest purple shade
Brought to you by the color PURPLE, supersoft stuffed kitties, and peonies (my early favorite things).

I thought a list with a couple explainers might be the best way to go on this:

First Book Loves

Where the Red Fern Grows: (first book that made me cry, which I LOVE—the being that connected thing)

The Shining: First book I loved so much I felt compelled to carry it everywhere and read any time I got a minute.

especially this scene where her dress changes back and forth
First Movie Love

Sleeping Beauty—I was in love with this before I ever saw it because my grandma had the book.

First Activity Loves

I preferred to be wet or upsidedown (not so much both): Swimming and Tumbling. I spent my young life doing one or the other.

First Celebrity Crush

Yeah, I admit it. So I was a tween in 1977.

First LOVES loves...

Well there was Aaron in my first grade class, but that was just a crush from afar...
And there was Eric, the first boy I 'went with'
And Bryan, the first boy I obsessively wrote to...
And Dave, my first truly obsessive crush

Note: the last three of these were ALL in 7th grade. It's possible my REAL first love was that I was a bit in love with LOVE.

I think I should stop there, as we are getting close now to the kiss and tell potential, and I really try not to do that. Especially as the ones I really loved (and there were a fair few) are mostly still in my life, but just as friends. I wouldn't want to create any friction.

Yay for Sleeping Beauty! That is an excellent choice!

is it bad that I don't know who your first celebrity crush is? :S

Aw...Sleeping Beauty was one of my favorites! What little girl wouldn't dream of finding a Prince Charming like this guy? ;D

You and every other girl your age was in love with Cassidy!
Thanks for participating in my blogfest, Hart.

Oh man, Where the Redfern Grows is SUCH a great book! I read it every few years again, even knowing i'll sob like a baby. Every Time. But god, that ending is so worth every tear

Sleeping Beauty was one of my favorites, too. I love how you say your real first love was that you were a bit in love with love...I think that's true for a lot of young girls...god knows I had a ridiculous number of crushes at that age, and fancied myself in love with all of them. Ahh, to be young and that stupid again. ;-)

Hurray for Shaun Cassidy! Except it was David for me. I'm ancient.

PS - There might have sort of also have been a Donny Osmond poster in my room too.

Sleeping Beauty was one of my favourites as well, but I'd have to stick with the Lion King 2. Kovu's just the cutest thing in existence!

BAH!!! TH, in love w/LOVE? I can't imagine. I'm giggling about Bryan & Dave, though. *snort*

uhh... Shaun Cassidy! I remember that poster and the Do-run-run... ;p

LOVED Sleeping Beauty, too, but I never read the Shining. Still haven't. Stephen King scares me, and JRM says the movie is nothing like the book. Or it leaves out so much. *shivers* :D <3

I wouldn't have thought you and I would have the same kind of stuff on our list...but I think I'm with you on all of this! Except maybe I liked the other Hardy Boy better (I guess you watched the TV series?)

The Shining definitely wins my first book to give me nightmares award ;) And peonies, I love peonies so much. I might do an entire blogpost dedicated just to their perfect purple and pink prettiness!

I didn't know the celebrity in the photo either.
I think girls tend to fall more in love with love than boys do. It seemed like my sister was always in love with somebody and it drove us nuts.

Sleeping Beauty is such a beautiful movie. Now I want to watch Disney movies. :)

Didn't get the time to participate myslef this time, but I've been around reading some of the posts.

The Shining is one of the rare occasions were I liked the moive better than the book. Maybe it's due to Jack Nicholson's brilliant performance >:)

The Shining was the first scary movie I ever remember seeing. *shivers* And, oh, Shaun Cassidy! He was my first adolescent crush. I had thousands of pictures of him tacked to my wall when I was like 12 or 13. What a dreamboat!

I don't know if I've read the book or not, but the movie version of Where the Red Fern Grows was so sad. I don't do well with movies where animals die.

My daughter's favorite princess is Aurora, but it's hard to find her in toys, etc. She doesn't get enough press!

I had so many crushes when I was a little girl I KNOW I was simply in love with romance. My first movie was Disney's Cinderella, and I remember loving Sleeping Beauty too, especially the three fairies. Quite a stretch from that to falling in love with Stephen King's The Shining, isn't it?

"Where the Red Fern Grows" is such a great book. I read it over and over again as a kid. And Princess Aurora remains my favorite Disney princess.
