Visiting Teresa Today

Teresa C over at the Journaling Woman interviewed me this week—she asked some fun questions, so you should go over THERE and see what we have to say!!!

And so for HERE, I will just share a few Ray Bradbury quotes. He died this week at age 91. A good long life doing what he loved.

"If we listened to our intellect, we'd never have a love affair. We'd never have a friendship. We'd never go into business, because we'd be cynical. Well, that's nonsense. You've got to jump off cliffs all the time and build your wings on the way down."

"Don't think. Thinking is the enemy of creativity. It's self-conscious, and anything self-conscious is lousy. You can't try to do things. You simply must do things."

"If you enjoy living, it is not difficult to keep the sense of wonder."

"You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them."

I will try, Ray. Rest in Peace.

His awesome writing has influenced me and my writing. I'm glad he had a long life, but of course we don't want to see him go.

There is something to be said about such a great writer living clear up into his 90's and influencing so many people. He is an inspiration.

Hart, that is a moving quote. "You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them."

I read a couple obituaries of Ray Bradbury and was very impressed with the man himself (I always knew he was a great writer). Love his quote about building your wings as you're falling down.

Helena-that has been my response, too--I always knew I liked a lot of his writing (at least a lot of it--not a Farenheit fan) but I've loved looking at his attitude about life and writing. He was always impressive as a writer, but I love that he was also impressive as a man.
