Virtual Suitcase

So first... I completed our first run/walk interval-mabob... It's possible I may die. Probably not, but maybe. GADS, I am more out of shape than I thought. That said, the company was good—we laughed a lot. The youngun (Oliver's person) is younger and fitter than us older ones, but we still made it. My butt hurts... (TMI?)

But enough of my pain...

You came for THE IDEA!!!!

So this is sort of unorthadox, eh? I disapprove of clothes on every level... but sometimes there is an idea that really could work for somebody... and since I don't approve of clothes, I might as well share, eh? Hopefully the karma of it will come back around. I prefer my karma by check, if anybody is curious. Just email me. I will get you the address.

Predicators...

People travel for business.
Suitcases wrinkle clothing.
Airlines have begun charging for each suitcase you check...

My IDEA?

A virtual wardrobe... A nicer department store... maybe Nordstrom—their service is better than most... begins a service where they 'sell' clothes (try on, expert fitting, all that), but you keep your wardrobe virtually... try it on to buy, but then when you go on your trip, you go online and 'pack' and your clothes meet you there—their store local to your destination sends it straight to your hotel... all you need to pack is underthings (if you tolerate them) and toiletries... there is a fee for dry cleaning when you get them the second time, but mostly, your clothes just meet you where you need them...

You also could cut back on what you kept in your closet, freeing up room for more toys, yes? And you'd never have to iron again, yeah? Heck, that's worth a lot right there! But the real thing is, convenience, and the fact that by shifting money from 'luggage check' to 'wardrobe service' it is a net EVEN for the customer plus the convenience of no wrinkles, lost luggage or lugging stuff around... This is especially nice for multi-purpose trips... I went to Scotland in 2008 for work, then traveled for fun... how NICE to leave the business clothes where I needed them instead of having to drag them through Naked Wales?

Funny. That seemed a lot more complicated in my head... But not so much, eh?

All I ask is if this makes anyone any real money, they send me a cut...

*nods*

29 and 25 here...
In Other News

Today HWMNBMOTI is once again 4 years older than me. This brings balance. It is lopsided when he is only 3 years older (something that only lasts about 9 weeks, thankfully)... Did you know 4 years apart (or multiples of 4) are the best compatibility in Chinese Astrology... I am a Horse, he is a Tiger... only the Dog is as well suited. (in fact my son is also a Tiger). He (back to HWMNBMOTI now) is also a Virgo... complimentary to my Cancer Sun... and perfectly matched to my Virgo moon... Perfectly compatible, whatever complications may sometimes strike...

A lot of people have shaken heads at us over the years. We are not easy. But we both live on the tails, and so need each other badly. And on that cryptic note... I am having a 4-day weekend... WAHOO for that!  Any of you with real power out there... i've been trying to make this the norm and getting nowhere, so I'd appreciate it if you'd get on this. We'd all be happier.

I thought it said that lots of people had shaven their heads over you over the years. Made me curious as to why the two of you have head-shaving superpowers.

Anyway. Happy birthday to B!

I'm traveling quite alot, and my clothes always look bad when I take them up from the suitcase. Fortunately, I'm working on technical stuff, and we're kind of expected to look like vagabonds. I never wear a tie, by principle. It's different for people in law and finance. They're tortured with black suits, white shirts and ties every day >:)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO HWMNBMOTI! May his day be full of nakedness and lots of fours!!! :-)

Yay for you for power walking today!!! Why and how your butt hurts only boggles my most fervent imaginative mind even more.

Yes,clothes are most definitely over-rated!
Take care

So much to respond to!
First - brilliant idea about the stooooopid clothes. Yep, I like it. I have friends - they are both shrinks and travel a great deal for fun and work. They are elderly but you'd never know it to look at their excitement packed life. They went to India a number of years ago and their luggage was lost. They are both about 6'2" (well Nancy is 6') and so quick clothes and shoes were tricky to find. Nancy got a couple of saris & I don't know what Curtis did. Anywhoozi - that was it for Nancy. She only takes carry-on - she bought a number of silk skirts, tops and pants (maybe enough for five combinations) at some catalogue place - they don't wrinkle and they take up NO space. That's it. That's all she wears.
Next - Happy Birthday to HWMNBMOTI ! My sweet patootie is six months younger than me yet we feel quite compatible except I can't spell that word and he can and he knows lots and I know little and he thinks he's so smart! He's a dragon and I'm a tin bunny. He's a leo (born on the same day as Madonna which puts the whole horoscope thing into question) and I'm a sag (born the same day as Jane Fonda and Stalin)
"Live on the tails"????
Next - I, when I've taken real employment, have often worked a four day week. It is the only way to have sanity. If businesses and govt. would only get that it is in their best interest!!!
OK - back to revising, knitting and learning the accordion. bye now.

hmm... I'm trying to figure out how the virtual suitcase is different from online shopping--which I support. :D I HATE going to stores. WHY won't H&M get on the bandwagon???

Happy b'day to hubs, and hey! Great work on the exercise! Keep it up~ :D <3

I own an iron - it's somewhere - but I don't remember the last time I used it and may have thrown out my ironing board. When I was working, I became expert at smoothing the clothes when they were still warm, kind of ironing with my hands. Now, I'm all decked out in gardening clothes - an upgrade from pajamas and yoga pants, I think - maybe not.

I really do love the virtual wardrobe! And, hang in there with the running. The first days are always the hardest-

Me-thank you!

Mari-well HWMNBMOTI would certainly cause shaved heads if he could. He hates hair. I, on the other hand, like long hair (on men and women) so that one's not on me.

CaH-as a social scientist, I am forgiven a little... as a statistician, I am forgiven a lot. Definitely glad i'm not stuck in suits, but it is better to not be wrinkled.

Enid-I hope so!

Elizabeth-not a dream this round... not sure where it came from, actually. It may fit in a book, and that would be fun--to have a character who made a fortune this way..

Al-4 months apart probably makes you the same element and that is good for a compatibility thing, too.

Jenny-I think the butt thing is just those unused running muscles... And I will pass on the Happy birthday!

Jan-yeah, tall women trying to find a few outfits in India sounds challenging! Would be FABULOUS to just meet the clothes there! You and SP are both fire, so that is a good match, even if dragons and bunnies have some obstacles... As for the tails--things like... when we look at forests and trees... I am seeing continents and he is seeing pine needles... I am overly large and optimistic and he balances me with micro picture and reality check. Neither of us has enough moderation there to get by without the other providing balance.

Leigh--different from online SHOPPING because the trying on is good for those of us who are misshapen... but clothes are then 'stored' online, to be retrieved at your destination (or home, if you want--but not in your closet until you want it)

Tonja-my ironing board is covered with a few things I rarely use--business clothes, holiday napkins--I won't iron them until I need them...

Hart Johnson said...

Shelly-thank you! And I do know on the running. But I'm a lot older than last time I started this... ACK!

What is it with age and women? My wife is the same way about the years in between us.
You need to press for that virtual clothes idea, Hart.

I've heard that people scream "four" at you when a ball is about to strike you in the head. That's my contribution to all this "four" talk.

Way to go on the exercise.
OMG I think the virtual suitcase is a great idea. Wish they had it when I was on the road a lot.
Happy Birthday to the hubster. As long as it works for the two of you who cares about anyone else.

Stacy Gail said...

Dang, I wish a virtual suitcase existed! Since I travel 3-4 times a years for business -- and I think that irons should only be used as murder weapons -- I buy the kind of clothes that promise they're permanent press. And fireproof. But that's another story.

Happy birthday to your sweet baboo! Sweet baboo! Sweet baboo! Sweet baboo! (Yay, four! :P)

Hart Johnson said...

Alex- teehee--oh, men can be funny about age, too...

Michael-is that four? or fore? like foreplay... the joy you get just before you pass out, right?

Mary-yeah, once upon a time I traveled more, too... i coulda used this...

Stace-hard to find a department store with skating costumes though, eh? And I try to limit to clothes like that, too.

Christine Murray said...

It's also more environmentally friendly! Less fuel used lugging stuff around with you.

There's the same age gap between my husband and I, but we're four years apart for three months. At least we're compatible for a quarter of the year anyway :)

First, happy b-day to HWMNBMOTI.
Second, love the idea of having clothes beamed to you (like in Star Trek) as needed. One of the best shirts I ever had for traveling had the crinkly look and it wasn't supposed to be ironed. Loved it, wore it out.

Ella said...

Hope HWMNBMOTI has a wonderful day~ You two are so cute together! I love your idea; brilliant! Heck if we beam in clothes, then we need to move on to bodies. So much quicker than flying~
Love all the 4's in your life~ enJOY your long weekend! Be safe ;D yes, naked, too~

Great Idea! And Happy Birthday to HWMNBMOTI!

I LOVE the virtual clothing idea. You should make that happen.

And happy b-day to the hubby.

erica and christy said...

My hubby is almost eight months older than me and for that entire time, I have trouble remembering my actual age. This year I had to count it out before I knew if I was 36 or 37...

I broke out my iron last week for the first time in months (probably years, to tell the truth). Usually I just use that spray stuff and pull the wrinkles out (which does work, at least on the clothes I wear).

Maybe airlines could have a separate section on the plane for those who prefer to travel naked. No leather seats, though!

(just a quick note to let you know I've passed on the 7x7 link award to you) ;-)

I like that idea. Of course, wrinkled clothes never bother me.
