Couch to 5K
So I've got 4 days under my belt now... 3 with my peeps and on Saturday, by myself on the elliptical, but I DID alternate more speed/tension with slower... I really did the spirit of the workout, but it was HOT and there were some hundred thousand extra people in town for a football game.
It's possible I might die.
Okay, hopefully not. But I am sore... achy... my legs. My hip joints. Even my back is stiff (I think from the extra compounding stuff?)
But on the positive side, Tuesday's run was easier.... And also on the positive side, another neighbor is joining us so we get to do the first week again (did you hear my sigh of relief?)
But I think it will work... I think it will take... I think it's taking already. The youngun (Oliver's person) is a fabulous cheerleader. I think she's doing the rest of us a great service, as I know I would have only run some small portion... I also notice the days I do it, I don't feel as much like snacking late. So that is a side bonus... So YAY for getting back to it...
Childings on 1st day 2011 |
My childings started the 2011-2012 school year on Tuesday... They seem to be enjoying it so far... I guess for me the tough transition is sharing space in the morning (no hitting snooze, as I need to be done for daughter to shower) and making blasted school lunches... (okay... only do it for son... daughter always complains—she inherited that trait from her non-maternal parent, but never mind—the rule around her is if you aren't content with what is done FOR YOU, you can do it yourself). Whatever the case... I'm a little tired and I haven't even hit parent night (tonight for son, next week maybe for daughter). It will take a little time to get settled, but I guess we're there...

I am trying to do a last mad rush clean-up... this hasn't gone exactly as I thought... I hoped to send a very clean draft to my agent, but it really needs a clean a read and a clean... I hate being behind, but there it is. I am mad rushing... first clean THIS WEEK, hopefully a read in a week, and then back to Ellen in just about 2 days...
Kahlotus
When I am done with the first of those cleans and sent to a couple readers, I have FEEDBACK from my agent for some changes on Kahlotus... a couple bigger and a lot of smaller, but all manageable in maybe 10 days... or that's the plan... Hopefully Amy will have a submittable draft by October 1....
Are the rest of yibus getting back to it, too? It is September, after all...

Congrats on the progress with Couch to 5K! I don't see how you do it...
Yep, in the middle of school lunch making right now. I do chips, cookies, fruit, and napkins in their bags at night and put in the sandwiches, drinks, and string cheese in the morning. Fun!
I'm back to my workouts, but oddly, whenever I open the draft of my WIP, I remember something else that must be done right this second. Bad habit.
Hope the kiddies enjoy this school year! Sounds like you've got plenty to keep you busy! I was looking forward to taking a year off to concentrate on writing but my old job called me yesterday and want to renew a 7 month contract. Unfortunately the hours and salary are too good to say no to:( At least it's still part time.
The WIP is on track and that's about the only thing that is.
Great looking kids you have there, Hart. They sem to be sharing the universal "O God, mom, really" grin. heehee
Lovely Tart!! Please be NAKED and don't die! :-(
Awwww!!! Good luck with your feedback and edits (sounding most NAKED btw!! YAY!!) and your childlings' first day back at school!! I can't believe summer is so over...!
Take care
x
Glad you're back on your fitness track! And I really need to start writing again.
Elizabeth-your lunches sound a lot more complicated than mine do! We do sandwich, fruit, snack. They buy milk.
Lisa-Ack! Break that WiP habit!
Katie-I know the working is a bit of a pain, but part time is definitely superior to full! And didn't you know you needed to work, at least some?
Mary-yeah, they look sleepy... Glad your WiP is on track, at least!
Jenny-Okay... I will try really hard not to die...
Alex-needed to happen, eh?
Exciting that you are so close on more than one book - very inspiring!
I think the back to school thing is harder on me than the kids. The first alarm goes off at 5:00 AM - way too early to be begging my teen to get out of bed quickly so I can go back to sleep. I just send a check - packing lunches would put me over.
Keep at it. Couch to 5k. That's freaking awesome. I know you can do it!!
Yay for You!!!
Getting back to it here, too. It's the getting back in the groove that's SO hard.
I can't wait until KAHLOTUS is published so I can read it.
After my summer of fun, laziness and general debauchery-- I got home and had to run a 5K too! And then school and all sorts of foof hit the fan. I want summer to go on and on so I can read another Outlander book and over eat.
Aw, gorgeous childings off to school! My little one started kindergarten this week, so I'm going back to work. My ms has been with betas for so long that I will have a hard time getting back into revisions. Ugh.
Good luck with the exercise. Yeah, I guess I should go to the gym one of these days.

Tonja-the school lunches are definitely tempting! They seem so expensive for what they are though...
Lynn-thank you! An obstacle today, but I will manage!
Carol-Aw--thanks so much on the Kahlotus thing! And it IS hard, isn't it?! Ack!
Jo-man, I'd LOVE forever summer... Especially that last part where I got long weekends...
Vicki-Awww--kindergarten! That's a big step! I'm feeling old now!
You've inspired me with that first part: I'm going to sign my couch up for a 5k. (I'm certainly not going to do one myself. I gave up on running years ago, unless I'm playing a sport or being chased by a bear.)
Oh, and best of luck with the revisions. I hope to get back into my own soon. (First step: Train the baby to sleep on command.)
Getting back to it? It never ends. =) Best of luck with your crazy. Nice how we all get our own brand right?
I love how busy you are...it gives me hope! As soon as the ankle stops growling at me, I'll get back on the 5ks with you!
Have had two successful days writing. Hoping I'm starting a trend. Hope you get back into the back-to-school/writing rhythm soon!
I have discovered that it is easiest for me to workout when I'm well rested. Going after I get off work is really really hard. So I may have to adjust my schedule so that I can do so before work and I think I'll be able to stick with it more.
Good luck with Kahlotus (I have no idea how even to pronounce that).
It's a frantic time for many, especially parents with kids in school. Then for others like me it's more of the same ol'.
Looking forward to your book release.
Lee
Tossing It Out
Congrats on being so close to Kahlotus perfection! I am so not a runner that I really admire you for pacing yourself through what sounds like a serious program.
*falls over* Oh, Nate, too funny... Yes. Sign us up for three... even though we only have two couches *snort* And baby-not-sleeping is the hardest phase to do ANYTHING! Been there! Give yourself the time. They are only that small once. (my little one is as tall as me now)
Crystal, we do indeed. I suspect my crazy might be crazier than most, but It's largely self-inflicted.
Heather-boo, on growling ankles! I hate being ready and the body rebelling! Join us when you're ready!
Liza-good for you on writing days! I love writing days... much better than editing haze...
Michael: Ku*LO*tus (emphasis on low) And it would look largely familiar to you... high dessert scrub, punctuated by groovy rock thrusts... erm...
Lee-in so many ways I look forward to that 'like any other'... seriously... for life to calm down...
Sarah-BOOO! I'd be so sad if mine died. I vastly prefer outside... except when the weather sucks, which sadly, it often does...
Helena-you do all that other great fit stuff! What I like about running, honestly, though, is results. It works faster than most programs. But I learned to love it when i was young, so there is also that 'capturing my youth' thing driving me.
Congratulations on your progress on the Couch to 5K program. I have that link sitting in my Favorites. I swear I'm going to do it.
Well, I grant my kids permission to complain about school lunch and that is all. I have seen that lunch, it's horrid.
Well done on the exercise! Hope you get past the sore muscles soon and advance to the point where you start feeling GOOD.
Kari-Thank you!
Abe-yeah--elementary was pretty bad. The middle school has more options (like they can ALWAYS get a sandwich made) so they aren't stuck with the single choice.
Thank you, Adina!
