Super-Neighbors to the Rescue!!!

So I had a great business idea I was going to post today... but I'm doing it tomorrow. So if ANY of you know rich people wanting a really good idea... send them in tomorrow... All I ask is a generous percentage for being the brain child... but TODAY...

I got sidetracked by groovy neighbors.

Oliver is a different color, but otherwise, looks like this
My Dog has a Best Friend

It's true. Joel has a buddy, Oliver, who is a long-haired Dachshund—very handsome, friendly fellow... so Oliver and his person were walking by last night... I was upstairs as hubby was at work and childings were still roller-coastering... so we spotted them when they walked by and went out to say hi.

Both dogs decided to pester Jean (fabulous neighbor of swimming pool fame) and so begged at her door until she came out, so the three of us women and the two dogs visited a good long time.

Comfy sofa
And we decided something...

Oliver's person was laid off when Borders closed their corporate office and grumbled about weight gain... I grumbled about my weight. Jean is thin as a rail but would like to be more fit...

The three of us decided we are going to do the Couch to 5K program... starting TONIGHT... Now I've done this program before and it is totally manageable. So if any of you would like to join us, you are welcome. We are going to do our jog Monday, Tuesday and Thursday (plus Oliver's person and I on Sunday)...

I also have the work Weight Watcher's coming soon... but I like this starting a program on the first of a month... especially a month like September that is a 'start' month because of the school year.

The first week it is alternating running 60 seconds with walking 90 seconds for 20 minutes... nothing, eh? You could totally do that, eh? So if you want to, DO!!!

And don't forget... send all potential sugar daddies in tomorrow...

I love Couch 2 5K. I love running, it gives you such a feeling of freedom.

I haven't really ever been a runner... I hate cardio. LOL. But I guess I should get over that, for my health!!

Good on you, Hart! I'll join in, in my own way. I've already started actually. One week going strong on the exercise. I started yoga last week, so whenever I don't have a yoga lesson, I do 10 kilometers on the exercise bike (but I take weekends off :) Good luck!

Sounds like a wonderful and achievable plan, and similar to the one I was on until I broke my toe :(

Roll on four weeks time!

The 5K training sounds like fun, especially if you have friends to do it with you. I hope to be walking a 5K by next spring - that's more my speed.

You can do it, Hart! Just don't mess up and do it in reverse.

Good luck with the program! You can do it! (And dogs with best friends are just too cute!)

That's fantastic! I've made the decision that I really need to make an effort to MOVE more, so as soon as my vacation next week is over, I'm going to start back to the running. It does make such a big difference.

Hart, you inspire me so much with your honesty, your GREAT attitude and your fun spirit! tho I AINT doing no Couch to 5k :D I am so inspired by you and Megan to get my butt OFF the couch and at least do Zumba. In my living room. yep. :D

That's what I do on the treadmill -- a walk/run combo, adding hills in every other half-mile. Getting a workout in makes a big difference in how you feel mentally and physically. Do it!

Sorry, no sugar daddies. They're fattening. :P

My wife and I did the Weight Watchers thing once. It really works. There's an accountability of weighing in that really helps. Best wishes for you!

I will be cheering you on from the elliptical at my gym. That's about all the exercise I can handle. It's hard enough cutting calories (this is after I ate an apple fritter from Crispy Creme this morning). /wipes crumbs off chest.

THe main problem is that running is boring. I bought new running shoes (on sale) a couple of weeks ago. I've used them once, and have to start planning for the 2nd round >:)

Thanks so much for all the encouragement, gang! Once upon a time I liked running a lot... we will have to see if I can get myself to like it now...

Ellie-ACK on the broken toe! Those are the worst! And it is so frustrating to get going and then be sidetracked by injury.

I checked out Couch to 5K. I think I may give this a shot. I'll need stamina for the wedding.

Sorry to hear about the layoffs, but excited for you all's efforts to get fit (again :-) . Been there myself, and it's a true challenge (one that I still work at every day).

I've heard about the C-5K, but haven't done it. Looking forward to your updates!

i've never heard of this workout program before. BUT, when i read about it, i realize i already do this 2 times a week (the other 2 days a week are on the eliptical) either 45 min or 60 min! Yay!

Leigh-if she did the whole thing, she got there! Then again, i've done it, and can't anymore... but it's because I didn't keep it up...

Mary-do it! You can! I hear you've got a hot dress planned, so you have to have the stamina to dance the night away!

EJ-I've done it before, too, though I was a lot younger then...

Sarah, intervals are great--it's wonderful you're already doing it!

Couch to 5K is a GREAT plan. I used it when I first got started running. I really love how the dogs have a person. Somehow, that's how it should be.

What a great idea Tart. It's amazing how long 60 secs is when you are running but it gets easier. So people tell me! :)

Thanks for the antartic info. brrrrr

What a great way to get going!

I think it's that time of year. New things, new needs and desires.

If I find that sugar daddy, I promise I'll share him with you.
