Substitute Blog

So like I had a really clever blog planned for today, like, innut? And I fort I might be clever annat... but instead my wee childing haz an algebra test today, and I spent my evening doing Algebra and recovering with Vodka. Erm.

So today I present you with proof Math isn't ALL evil. Right?

See. People on drugs do math *shifty*. Source

And condoms like math. Source

And Evil Villains like math Source
Oh wait... I just undid that evil thing I said, didn't I?  Sorry, my attention span is shot.

In OTHER news... I am a week into Weight Watchers and down 6 pounds as of yesterday, and we've hit Week 3 in the Couch to 5K, henceforth to be called Couch to KEG because that is what Kevin the Farmduck thought we said. *shifty*

Seriously though, vodka recovery aside (and it was within points anyway), I've done really well. I love weight watchers.

And I have an encourager for any of you interested in picking up a good habit like exercise. Three weeks makes a habit.  What does that mean? If you can FORCE yourself to adopt a behavior for three weeks, then the effort of making yourself do it drops drastically... it is a part of your routine. Apply it to writing daily. Apply it to eating better. Apply it to exercise (it was an MPH in public health who told me that).  Three weeks is as long as the wrestling match seems TOO HARD. After that it is just maintenance (not something to take for granted, but not nearly as hard).

So there.

*note:  I was actually more punchy and less vodka infused than this blog may imply.

And it's THURSDAY. You know what that means!!!

Great job with the weight loss! And being so helpful with math. :) I did the same thing yesterday, but with my 5th grader and some math thing called arrays?! Sigh. Who knew we'd be tutors, right?

i'd really like to do weight watchers, but i can't convince anyone else in my house to do it with me. Sigh.
I also need to look more closely at the couch to 5k and see if i can manually set up my treadmill to follow it.
You are doing awesome!!! Keep it up!

Hi Hart,

Way cool pictures! Congrats on your 6 pounds and new habits. I hope that the math test went well. I wouldn't even know where to begin there.

Congrats on six lbs! Woot! Oh, and my head banging project for the evening was on GA studies. Ugh! I think I want to move now. :)

Thanks so much for the support everyone!

Congratulations, Hart! And condoms are good at math? I guess the good ones excel at subtraction and the bad ones at multiplication, huh?

YAY, HART!

Congrats, I am so proud of you. I so agree with your three week theory. It's now been six months for me. I am still trekking the lakefront until the weather gets cold. So not looking forward to the wind.

WInter will be a challenge, but I am up for it.

You did so great your first week. That's amazing!

Oh, I am really looking forward to your entry tomorrow.

Excellent job on the weight losing!!! And I agree about how to form good (or bad) habits. Now, I've got a good habit going of spending less time commenting and more writing to get back to.

it was within points... *snort* :D LOL! You are killing me. And I suppose it's when the drug users stop doing the math that the problems start... :D

I like your three week motivational tip. Can you run the 5K now? Here's hoping little Tami nailed it~ ;p

Math is beautiful. I hope the math on your weight loss continues to move toward small numbers.

I'm gonna go whole food/vegan for three weeks - maybe that will help me fit into my jeans before it gets too cold to wear capri yoga pants.

My 5th grader had three problems of math that was actually a writing assignment with a rubric and something like 6 steps to answer a word problem - and put the answer into a short essay format. THERE'S NO WRITING IN MATH!!

I'm so glad you're losing weight! Way to go! And yes, it's easier when it becomes a habit.

Good job with weight watchers!! I like that 3 week rule... Gonna try and remember that. I wonder if it means 3 weeks of decent sleep would make me not tired? Hehe

Condom one was my favorite. I'm all about a keg over a 5k, but congrats on the 6 pounds. Just picture that in butter and it seems even more impressive. :)
