Q is for Query Tracker

So I've used Query Tracker to find agents who might be appropriate, but I've never used it for.... you know... tracking... And I'm not sure I'm using it optimally to find agents... I mean I generate names of people who take my genres but still have to look into every person individually to see what they really like (And I believe I have not been particularly good at this).

Some trackers are hotter than others...

So nimble readers...

What tricks can YOU make Query Tracker do?

Have you had any big successes using it?

Are there any shortcuts in this process?

How is the system better than an Excel spreadsheet?

Is there some competing system you like better?

I haven't used it. I have a binder (yes, hard copy) that I use to track queries. I sometimes refer to Editors & Preditors to find reasonable agents but being a Canuck and trying to sell Canadian means I have a list of 30 agencies. Not too tricky to navigate.

Ha! I've done the same as you. I've only used it to locate agents. I will be in the process of querying again and will keep a hard copy to refer to and track.

Funny. I get Query Tracker emails all the time, but just put them in an email file to read later. I wonder when I'll ever look at all the emails that I save for later?

Never heard of it but I will Google. I don't query much anymore since I switched to self-pub. But I do use a spreadsheet to track marketing outreach, which is similar to querying, and it is a real grind. There must be something out there to make that easier. I use Hubspot's widget to track email opens, that's about it.

I really prefer an Excel Spreadsheet, but that's probably the control freak in me. There's also Google Drive's spreadsheet, which I've also used.

Excellent image. Daryl is a great tracker!

I've heard of it and would like to learn how to use it.

I haven't used it, and I've given up on querying--too depressing and time-consuming. But I wish you the best so may your own querying lead to great success.
