Meet Joel Johnson

Mom gave me the J day and suggested I do a Jabberwocky, but I can't rhyme. In fact mostly I don't talk except in one word sentences. That's why mom is translating.

look at his little ear tufts...
Mom doesn't think I know this, but I was adopted. In fact I was almost a year old when my first family (mom calls them the Cretins) dropped me off at the Humane Society on Christmas Eve. They didn't understand me. Called it behavior issues. Really though, I just don't like to be yelled at. I know. Some parents think, especially with the furry brothers, that a stern voice is the way to get something done, but I have this... this THING happen... it's like I grow to four times my size and start to roar (and snarl and sometimes bite). But do YOU like to be yelled at? I mean seriously—isn't that what YOU feel like doing?

Anyway, this Cretin family didn't like it, so they left me. Then a week later my REAL family came. They FOUND me, but because I'd been with the Cretins, they had to adopt me. They yelled and talked sternly a little bit. (I guess some furry brothers like that) but they eventually figured me out. Just offer me a carrot or to go OUT and I will drop the underwear I'm chewing! Carrots taste better than underwear any day!

My favorite person is my daddy. He walks me and feeds me, and he is home most, so he spends lots of time with me. I've learned what our car sounds like, so when he turns onto our street I prance and whine, knowing he's on his way!

Mom is pretty good. I sleep on her side of the bed because she's put a blanket down there for me. She reaches over to scratch me and watches for me when she gets in and out of bed. My two legged brother and sister are good too. My sister takes a lot of pictures of me. She took the ones on this page. She tells me all the time how cute I am. My brother likes me and scratches me and sometimes I go in his room to sleep, too.

Then I have a furry sister. I really like to clean her ears. She tries to catch my tail a lot—she will sit on a chair and grab it when I go by. She and I like to play chase, too—we take turns.

I have important jobs in my family. When there are noises, I have to let everyone know. And when someone gets home I have to greet them. And in the morning, if they forget to get up, I need to go make sure they're okay, so I whine at them until they scratch my head and say 'hi Joel'.

scared of thunder... and cameras...
As for what I like... I like to head OUT for a walk, but I really don't like to go very far. Mostly I stop in the yard and watch dad walk down the block. I like to eat—eating is the best. And I'm really really really really afraid of thunder. I don't like rain much—it makes me wet. I don't like it real cold. Or hot. And I hate the deep snow, but you would too if your privates were only 5 inches off the ground.

I guess that's it about me. Now mom is going to share some J blogs...

The Journey: Colene is a newer blogger buddy, but very hip and seems to like stuff I like, which of course makes here cooler than cool *shifty*

Just the Cheese: Jamie's a nut. You will probably just laugh a lot.

But really, Hart, who names a dog, Joel? ;0)

teehee--thanks so much everyone! He's a good guy!

And Mary-the Humane Society had named him Joel, but it really suits him. He has a Joel personality.

So cute! I love that your dog and cat get along pretty well, too. Maybe that's our four-legged-friends' problem--they're both cats. Hmm...

Love the pictures. Joel's adorable :)

Good blog post, Joel!
I'm impressed. You make me think...
Maybe all those times when I was trying to write and my cat walked or sat on the keyboard he was really trying to write a blog entry!
Now I understand!
Thanks! :)

Oh What a sweet dog! Maybe he and Sirius would get along. Sirius loves underwear more than anything in the world. He can chew up a pair in three seconds flat. No use catching him at it. They're already ruined.

This was hard for me to read because I had to put my old, sick kitty to sleep a few weeks ago and I really can't afford to go to the shelter right now and adopt a new one. If I can just hold out a few more weeks...

I'm SO glad Joel has a great family like yours to love him.

Hi Joel, You sound like a pretty lucky dog. (and I don't blame you for being afraid of thunder and cameras. Those are two amazingly scary things!)

Hi Joel, My name's Jack. My mom did some stupid movie name for J day, instead of having me star in her blog for the day. Oh well, I'll just have to whine at her all night. Anyway, I was adopted too! I'm also afraid of thunder and cameras give me the willies. When my dad isn't home, I sleep a lot because my mom sits at her computer all day writing or editing or doing something that I just can't believe is any better than playing with me. I'm so glad I met you, Joel!

I just wanted to stop in and mention I'm typing this in the nude.

That is all.

And Simon *snort* You made my evening...

Hey, we both gave a shout to Colene today! And what kind of person takes in an animal and when it gets a little rough, dumps it? Pets are not possessions - they are part of the family!
