Lasts

“Petunia, remember my last!”

[Note, the above was cryptically sent in a Howler(1) in Order of the Phoenix to Petunia Dursley(2). For YEARS we(3) discussed.... Last WHAT?! So I thought maybe I should share my Lasts with you, so whatever the question, you have the answer...] Keep in mind my 'last' is my most recent. Most of these things I will do again, so the answers will change... just in cast anybody was worried...

(1)  A screaming red letter in the Potterverse meant to shame or reprimand. If you don't open it, it explodes.
(2)  Harry Potter's aunt who raises him none too warmly.
(3)  My Pottergeeks and me

Last laugh: Daughter's story on the way to her LAST Lifeguarding class (and there was much rejoicing)... I'm quoting:

“So when dad picked me up Monday, we were riding and I was texting, and I look up and there was a car full of teenage boys next to us. The driver starts doing this,” (she does this bouncing dance with a big smile) “and I was embarrassed, but then dad starts doing it back at them—you know that creepy smile he does?” (believe me, I know) “And so then all the boys are doing it and dad keeps doing it. It was the longest light I ever sat at.”

(Bonus) OTHER last laugh: So I have a friend Mary through ABNA who said her son was going to be on Craig Ferguson, and shared how to see the LAST time he was on (warning, there is a lot of parasite sex discussed in this video--her son is a PhD biologist with an Animal Planet show.)

Dan Riskin on Craig Ferguson  (I fell off my chair when I watched)

Last Library Loan: discs 4, 5 and 6 of season 4 of Supernatural... and I've been pouting since. I thought Hulu had seasons 5 and 6, but it only has CLIPS from 5 and only the 2nd half of 6. Anyone know where I can see season 5 online (for free with no virus), because the Library doesn't have them yet! (you can SEE why I have to see more, yes?)

Last Lunch: I had taco salad yesterday. (and then a snack of yellow and red peppers a little later.

Last Latte: I had a couple Chai lattes through the Christmas season (home made). It's probably been years since my last store-bought. I am too cheap for latte. I buy black coffee (though an eggnog latte at Christmas DOES hit the spot if I happen to be meeting someone).

Last Limbo: You know... I haven't had a chance to limbo for real since college, though I limbo online with some regularity. I've only WRITTEN one limbo scene... it was Dumbledore's contribution (among other things) to James and Lily's wedding reception.

Last Lemming Act: I will just stop you right there and say, I am NOT a Lemming. I suffer from FOMS, a diagnosis about needing to participate in everything. (the latest being this ROW 80, I told you about yesterday... or blogging A to Z, or the query thing on the 19th... *shifty* At least I'm an equal opportunity opportunist...

Last Llama Love: (I always love llamas, but my last BLOG about llamas is here.) Surely that is too long ago!

Last Lunacy: Why... just today (posting at noon, GMT, I have posted a personal ad seeking a Sugar Daddy at Burrower's Books and Balderdash.

Last Leap: I am leaping for JOY because my friend LEIGH earned herself an AGENT this week! Woot Woot! (More on Leigh in recommended blogs)

And FINALLY, two lovely ladies with L names, though their blogs don't start with L... Still, these women are both soul sisters, each in their own way (and they are OPPOSITE in a lot of ways, so it amuses me their blog titles are so similar.

Leigh at That's Write: Leigh and I have been buddies from first meeting, and are likely to get into LONG back and forth emails. Her husband channels me, so that's handy... she knows what I'm thinking, even when I'm not there... but we are also Thursday twins... born the 4th Thursday in June (she was born the exact day as Rayna Iyer, in fact, my original Thursday Twin) and that funny first week of cancer causes some kindred thinking... every person I've ever met born that week has the soul of a writer. Leigh writes YA (just got her first agent based on her historical YA romance, Rouge—based on a New Orleans dancehall girl who takes an orphaned child under her wing), and she ROCKS as a crit partner (years as an editor will do that).

Lisa at That's Why:  Is perhaps the only person I know more blunt and out there than I am (figuratively naked, if you will). She is definitely my sister in the TMI is where it's at, but she is smart and poignant and funnier than funny as she tells often horribly difficult tales (a main theme is the difficulties of long-term unemployment or facing mistakes of parenting). I love her style and ability to make me laugh, while I am crying truly compassionate tears. Warning. If you are conservative, Lisa may force you to face yourself. Her blog can get political, always in an informed way, but not everyone will be comfortable in their own skin when they've read.

LIFEGUARD!!!  This just in!  After writing most of this, I picked up my daughter and she is now a certified lifeguard!!!

S...s...uuuupernatural. Hang on, just got to wipe this drool off my chin.

Ahem. Okay, I own up to season 5 on DVD. Season 6 is non-existent here in Aus (we are always behind the times). I haven't even seen any of season 5 yet. Been waaaaiting for it to be affordable on DVD. It finally was, about a year after it was released ;)

So I'm finishing off a re-watch, nearly done with season 4...then it's onto fresh, fresh meat. OH YEAH. ;)

Oh my. Limbos, llamas and naked Jared. Awesome post! Though I'm more of a Dean/Jensen fan myself. Just do a search for 'Watch Supernatural' and you'll find something. I usually use megadvd when I'm desperate, but you can only watch an hour at a time for free, then you have to wait an hour before you can watch any more.

Wow, your daughter is a lifeguard? And she had the decency to qualify on your 'L' day?

That's a daughter in a million ;)

Leigh and Lisa have great blogs and that is wonderful news about Leigh's agent.

Footnoted Howlers... OHHHH YEAH!! =D

You forget to mention though that if you don't open them they explode AND shout out the message anyway, thereby making that not a convenient way of disposing of the things ;)

Cheeseboy said...

Yeah, that dance light is something I would totally do too. I think I might have even got out of the car and started grinding on the hood. Embarrassing your kids is the best.

Ann said...

Congratulations to the new Lifeguard. Last lunacy....how many replies????

Kate Larkindale said...

Llamas! Gotta love 'em. Reminds me of a spelling jingle I had to learn in 4th grade...

'One 'L' lama, he's a priest, 2 'L' llama, he's a beast, and I would bet a silk pajama, there isn't any 3 'L' lllama.'

Kendal said...

Any post that has both llamas and gumby is a good one. Thanks for sharing!

I don't know how legal this site is but I use it all the time, I checked they have your show, I didn't check the links and going through all of them can be annoying but you can check it out (Hosted by z-share generally has bad dubbing where the sound and picture don't match I avoid those, try the ones hosted by novamov, loombo, or divxden if they are available)
