STOP RESPONDING!!!

Hallo, my friends. I'm annoyed. Know why?

It bugs the heck out of me that people who are famous for NO REASON except being born to someone who is rich or famous, or because they are willing to go on some reality TV show and be an ass keep being talked about.

IGNORE THEM!!!

Reality TV Parody (which is acceptable)
They are not worth your energy, attention, or interest. If we stop looking, they will go away! Leave them to their stupid-ass selves. Never speak of them. Never watch them. Never bother to know who they are. They are NOT WORTH YOUR BRAIN CELLS!

I don't watch Dancing with Stars or … what's that singing one... American Idol, but at LEAST those are TALENT contests. It may not interest me, but have atter... what we should NOT be attending to is ANY reality TV that is just peeping, or eaves dropping, or encouraging bad behavior. If there is no skill involved besides social manipulation, those people DO NOT merit your time.

THIS IS NOT INTERESTING! THIS IS NOT REALITY, NO MATTER WHAT THEY CALL IT! YOUR BRAIN DIES A LITTLE EVERY TIME YOU WATCH!

And more importantly, MY brain dies a little every time I hear the name of one of these people.

I'M NOT INTERESTED!!!

and for PETE'S SAKE! If someone has them write a book, they are NOT PART OF WHAT WE DO!

Never call what they wrote a 'book' (you KNOW they probably didn't even WRITE it).
Never buy it.
Don't borrow it from the library.
But DO go to book stores and stick notes in that say things like 'don't you feel dirty now?' or 'I wiped poo in this book somewhere.' (you don't really have to wipe the poo... this is just a joke.)

Sorry. Just had to get that off my chest.

And because it's Thursday...

After having a fairly bad day today, your post cheered me immensely!! (Especially the notes in the books LOL.)

I have not seen a single episode of American Idol, nor of Survivor, nor any of that other trash. I laugh myself stupid over spoofs in the work of authors like Jasper Fforde and Libba Bray. And I'm staggered by seeing the same vapid looks on tabloid after tabloid when I have to reshelve them at the bookstore.

In other words, I agree with you 110%.

My pet peeve is why do someone who chooses to follow someone on blogspere never bothers to comment. I have a grand total of 431 followers and if 15 answers then I'm lucky.
Makes one wonder if it's worth all the preparing and writing.

Yvonne.

Luckily for me I don't watch tv, so these people truly don't exist in my world.

Love the idea of sticking these most NAKED notes betwixt the pages of celeb books, autobiographies, etc..! LOL!

Take care

You're spot on about this faux-celeb craziness. I stopped watching reality shows years ago and I've never read any books from their "stars."

Hart Johnson said...

Karen-teehee--glad I could help!

Leanne-yeah, I think that angle of the book store bus would make me nuts!!!

Yvonne-Ack! I've been neglectful, haven't I? Sorry about that!

Ted, i don't watch much either, but I see it a lot on FB. What really got me though, was people in my REAL LIFE bringing up that crap!

Jenny-*giggles* our own little guerilla movement against them!

Medeia-yeah, I've never liked them... I guess I watched the first 2 season of Survivor, but then it got mean and manipulative, so I quit.

Yes! You've nailed it.

It pains me to see their books on the shelves!

I'm thinking of a recent marriage that just broke up. I mean who cares. And they're worth millions for doing nothing. Really?

If that's "reality" what the hell am I living?
I believe bookstores should have a section called "TV TRASH" so I don't have to see them at all.

Hart Johnson said...

Elizabeth-YES--taking precious shelf space from people who can be bothered to write something that matters!

Teresa-that was my trigger... there has been a long burn of irritation, but this one seemed to be EVERYWHERE!

Mary-GREAT idea! Put them all in a corner where the rest of us don't have to deal with them!!! (might even shame some people who should know better)

oh, god, T.H., THANK YOU!!!! This stuff is killing me. I turn on the "news" for the weather report, and what do I get?

There are babies dying in Africa, morons! Stop talking about bimbos who have no soul!!!

Yes. Let's get naked. :D

I resent the fact that the name "Sookie" is taking up one of my brain cells, even though I’ve gone out of my way to avoid it. But that said, I must now embarrass myself by coming to the defense of Dancing with the Stars because it ain’t a reality show, it’s an old-fashioned variety show. See, I LOVE dance, and the professionals on it are phenomenally good. Jaw-dropping good. So good at their art/sport that next to them reality “stars” are exposed as the boring mediocrities they are.

Hart, my sentiments exactly. Consider the Snookies and Paris Hiltons of the world ignored.

In other news, the depreciation/devaluation on Kim Kardashian's wedding ring alone (after 72 days of marriage) is probably more money than you or I will see in 10-years (or more) of hard work.

How does that make you feel?

Are you keeping up with the Kardashians? mmmhmmm

Ok I have to admit I love reading books written by some of the stars or celebs. Some of them do have inspiration if you choose the right ones.
I have read Tabatha Coffey's book in fact I won a signed copy of it from her in a contest she held.
I read Shannen Doherty, Ashley Judd and yes Janet Jackson.
I love those books they do have something to say and to me those four women have something that inspires me in their own way.

Totally agree. I never watch TV series and never ever watch the so-called reality TV.

Amen, Tarty! Even if this weren't Naked Thursday, you'd be my hero. I used to love TV, truly. Now I NEVER TURN IT ON. And it's 100% due to all this "reality" (sheah, right) crap. If reality is a bunch of idiots who don't have two brain cells to rub together, then give me fantasy. A well-written book will do me fine, thank you very much.

I was at B&N yesterday, but I'm going back today with a pad of post-its. Watch for it Atlanta, and I'm not just talking' the wives... *cringe*

VB-I think either works... a HERE gives a location (which seems like an agreement vote) and a HEAR shouts that you think the message needs to be heard... (sort of like Reign and rein have different meanings but both are sometimes applicable...

Leigh-yeah, it's really like media morphine, isn't it. If we take a big dose of THAT we don't care what else they do to us because we are overloaded.

Helena-I can get the dance appreciation--I admire great dance. Though I really prefer it live. Love the angle though, of the real artists making the celebrities look like hacks.

Alex-THANK YOU!

Michael-that makes me want to increase the inheritance tax substantially. If I never HEAR the name Kardashian again it will be too soon. NOT INTERESTED.

Rae-there ARE some interesting stories. I don't read much non-fiction anyway, but I confess to liking Carrie Fisher. Fisher, though, has said, she happens to be a writer who just got cast in a couple movies... she identifies with us, not them.

CaH-there are some series I watch... but no. No reality. Two episodes the first season of Big Brother and that was enough for me.

VR-EXCELLENT! A taker on the notes! I'm so excited!!! There are a few shows I'm pretty excited about this season, but all of them are STORIES (continuing all season type stories).

absolutely. i try and try to get this across to folks, but few listen. they aren't worth my time any more than a homeless drug addict downtown is. i won't give someone my attention unless they earn it, and getting wasted and fighting with other bitchy girls who think they should be worshiped on a reality show is NOT doing it. you are failing. that is all.

Jan Morrison said...

worry not - wouldn't think of it. Don't even know who they are - don't have a tv - well we have a tv but we don't get anything on it that we don't put there. Right now we're in the middle of a frenzy of RE-WATCHING West Wing. Yep. That's intelligent tv and we'll just keep watching it as we own it and we like it and we can't remember from watching it all in a big swooping pigathon a few years ago. Then maybe we'll rewatch The Wire. And we don't read crap or books that someone left poo in.

Oregon Gifts of Comfort and Joy said...

Ha! I don't watch those either, unless it is the very last one and Jennifer Gray (?) has a broken back and it is the anniversary of Patrick Swayze's death (the last time that I watched Dancing With The Stars that was the deal).

I do kind of like Billy the Exterminator though, but he DOES something, so even if it is a reality show I hope that is okay.

Thanks so much for stopping by to see me today, Hart. I love the idea of being able to send somebody a love record; and laugh to think of your Grandma opening up envelopes and having free cigarettes fall out.

You have been so busy! I need to go back and catch up on your recent posts.

Take care,

Kathy M.

If you ever have the chance to go to an Adam Hills show, GO! (He's an Australian comedian) He believes, and proves, that anyone he chooses from the audience is far more interesting and important than any vacuous, empty headed celeb. His show "Mess around with Adam Hills" (not sure if that translates well into American English) is a celebration of us. Sue

Well, you're my new hero. I can't stand reality TV. It's so irritating how people debase themselves just to be on television and worse, that viewers seem to enjoy it. I just don't get it.
