Editing Brain

Nope. Nothin' in my noggin...

I've spent pretty much all weekend deep in editing... Neck deep...

The first pass built... that character development... from 65K to 70K... then I hit several scenes that were really about my OTHER PoVs... and I started snipping... I have it saved in another doc, and several sections say 'summarize this to MC' or some such thing... but 10K OFF... I am down to 60K...

And I've started next pass... the one addressing all the notes that say 'add a scene that does this'... It is much easier, actually, than the last pass. Because now I am writing, where the last pass was analysis... writing comes easier... I managed to get through 70 pages worth... a quarter of what needs to happen this pass... about 1000 new words...

On the plus side... I've had two really solid book ideas in the last week... One came in the shower and was inspired by the Veronica Mars last episode EVER... It is a series, maybe... and is barely entering the pile, so it is behind a couple other ideas to get written, but there it is....

The second I emailed to Elizabeth on Sunday morning as I woke up from a really strange dream where I was quilting... yeahno... that is NOT my material... but she might be able to use it, so there's that...

But what does that leave for a Blog?

The Evils of PANTS.

When I put them on I am finding
They are so evil and Binding
I must bid them adieu
Now what about you?
Do you really need this reminding?

Sorry. It's all I got...

I LOVE Veronice Mars! And I hear you on the editing. When I'm deep in the cave, it's almost like everything else just switches off except the project in front of me.

LOL. I wish I had book ideas come at me in the shower. Especially seeing as I got me one of those Aqua note thingies. I envy 'ideas' people. My ideas are scarce ... wanna send some my way?

Ideas usually come to me at the most annoying times. Often just as I'm falling asleep.

Morning Tart! Wish me luck as I hit the SEND button Friday after one final last week of yet more revision of synopsis (really 852 times through should be enough, no?) of Cheeky Blonde...the craft beer/sabotage/intrigue/romance epic. Sending it Big. Hopefully it will hit.
And I'm tearing up and revising Floor Time once again. But on the up side got a new contract with Decadent. Sort of a "second tier" on the three tiers of e-pubs.
good luck with all edits and pants.

I still don't understand how you have such productive dreams! But I appreciate them. :)

Congrats on all your progress in the editing department!

Because I always have trouble with too MANY words, I am familiar with the pain of revising and adding words while you do it. But it is a necessary evil sometimes! I'm hoping to cut about 5-6k during my current revision.

Good luck Hart!!

Just watched The Visitor on Netflix, a charming little indie film. One of the characters can only practice his music without his pants on. Very good touch that I thought you'd appreciate. Good luck with the editing! (am doing it too as we speak, major overhaul...)

Oh my gosh. This is soooo funny!!! :) I'm deep in edits, too, so I feel your pain. Keep at it. Woot!!!

Talli-yeah, that seems to be me, too...

Jessica-Yeah, the ideas aren't ALWAYS flowing, but when they flow, they seem to come in batches. I couldn't write without something sort of biggish at the center.

Jenny-Pants are evil! Down with Pants!!!

Matthew--it's that hyperrelaxed thing.. the ones falling asleep die a quick death, but the ones laying in bed before I get up I can usually salvage.

Liz-you have SO MUCH going on! Good luck with all your stuff!!!

Elizabeth-Oh, not all the dreams are productive... some are just odd...

Trisha-that's actually how I've ended up a WriMo enthusiast--I used to write too many, too, but now I'm trying to get the whole story out in a month, so it is much more skeletonny...

Barbara-EXCELLENT! I will have to find that!

Lynn-teehee--yeah, I can get punchy in edit mode...

Love the comic...works for me!

I know what you mean... I'm knee deep in editing with a long way to go and I feel that is always when I think of a new idea and want to write it instead. We just have to press on. And I love the comic!

I hate the fluctuating word count! I work so hard to build it up to acceptable levels, and then something eliminates a huge chunk. Crap!

Professor has a nice butt in that cartoon...very round and no hair. He has to be gay...no straight man would shave like that.

Hee hee, I'm still laughing at Michael's comment. Oh my.

Anyway, I just came out of editing brain. Now I have query and synopsis writing brain.

Good luck with Kahlotus!

Krista-they DO keep pestering! FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS

Alex-Oh, I have faith it will go back up again.

Michael *snort* Definitely... either that, or he might be Asian... Asian men are low on hair... Actually, hubby is low on hair, too... don't know his heritage, though...

Vicki-ACK! Querying is worse. FAR WORSE... I tend to do a throwaway project when i am querying (fan fiction or something) as I am hit and miss on coherence. Good luck!

here I go! I'm about to be in the EXACT same boat as you!!! And I can't wait.

Great news about the ideas. woo-hoo! And pants. SO overrated... ;p

Good luck w/Kahlotus!!! :o) <3

Editing brain! LOL, I know exactly what you mean and will be joining you around maybe November? We'll see how quickly the WIP moves once the kiddos go back to school.

And I'm all about pantlessness. Actually, as you know, I'm all about bikinis today(although I kinda prefer ones with bottoms);)

As for going pantless... it's one of the joys of wearing a long skirt, perhaps?

That's why I love sundresses - the next best thing to being naked in public!

Coolness on the book ideas! They tend to hit me in the shower too. Must be cuz we're more relaxed and open to drifting thoughts. :) Oh and congrats for making it into Pottermore! yay!
