Januectomy

It's time for the forceful removal of this pain in our collective arses! GADS! And Good Riddance, I say!

I really love this movie.
I think it's a Michigan thing. It really used to be February I hated so vehemently... February being the month that in OREGON seemed to be holding off spring. In Michigan though, that dubious honor goes to April. January is hated for being COLD, and POOR... (Heather blogged on this yesterday—the annoying habit of employers to pay you for December BEFORE the holidays, so the check meant to sustain you in January needs to last 6 weeks, rather than 4.5)... and at our household it seems to be the ILLNESS month and the FINALS month.

And I am SO GLAD to see it go.

What did I accomplish in January? Mostly I panicked a lot... I sorted and shuffled and supported...

I am nearly done with my ABNA revision (just in time—should be getting a go ahead or NO ahead from my editor on my Begonia Bribe revisions and either way will need to jump to it as soon as I know).

February is ALSO slated for first revision of Chrysanthemum Campaign. So I will be up to my eyebrows in FLOWERS. Which is good. Should hold off my snow irritation... Not that I mind SNOW, so much as I get really tired of how long winter drags on around here... (did I mention hating Michigan winters?)

*Cough*

On the plus side, it's OVER!!!!!

You know, theoretically, January ought to be a right good time. Janus is the Roman God of beginnings... but if you read further, he was two-faced (one looking back and one forward) and intertwined with chaos. So maybe we've gotten just what we bargained for.

Say... it says he was the God of gates and doors, too.

Erm... that ringing any bells for anybody? (Door bells?)

No, me neither...

But at least we are solidly into Aquarius, the sign where people are their own unique selves, unconcerned with the uptight proclamations of the masses of how people ought to be. I really LIKE Aquarius. If I could have picked my own sign, I think this would be it, even if it WOULD put me stuck with a birthday in my least favorite time of the year. It is just my favorite personality profile. And for the record, in spite of Jo giving Luna an August birthday, LUNA should have been an Aquarius. Open, accepting (a bit odd). And absolutely herself. So much so that she wins everybody over.

Do you all have a time of year you really hate? How do you cope?

I don't really have a time of the year I really hate. I think I hate Mondays more than anything really! LOL! Oh but I do see what you mean about January being the longest time ever for pay day to arrive!

I'd love to have an earth sign in my astrological make up! So far I'm Cancer (water) with bits of Aries (fire) and Gemini (air). But NOTHING to ground me! Doesn't make me NAKED at all! LOL! Yikes!

Take care

I actually hate January and February the most, but for reasons that will probably get me attacked by rotten tomatoes in this post. haha. My reasons are that it's disgustingly stinking hot over here during those months. Though March can be god-awful too. This year we've had a slow start to summer (which I personally thoroughly enjoyed), but the gross stick heat has hit in full force now. Boo!

I'm sure Feb will be better for you and yours, Hart!!

February is usually brutal in Ohio. I am typically sick for most of the month from the extreme cold (asthma). Thinking about February makes me want to reach for my inhaler, but, well, it's 50 degrees this whole week, so maybe February will be OK for once.

Good luck on finishing your projects!

I'm never wild about January, but this year it's been so mild that it hasn't even seemed like Jan! Hope things start looking up for you!

October Is the month when everything around me seems to fall apart. I so dread it that I think that's part of the problem.

I LOATHE January and February. If I could hibernate through those two months, I'd be... really behind on everything, so never mind. *sigh*

Look at it this way. It can only get better from here, right?

I LOVE being an aquarius! My birthday is next week, which definitely helps the cold, dark winter, pass by a bit quicker. Because, yeah, MN winters are similar to MI winters and they blow.

I'm odd because the only thing I really hate are Saturdays.

I am so with you. January in upstate NY is cold and icy, and my 5-year-old has been sick since Christmas. Seriously, one cold after another before he fully recovers from the last one. Okay January, don't let Spring hit you on the arse on your way out!

I love January because my daughter's birthday and mine fall back to back and then beginning of February Noah has a birthday. So there are 3 Aquarius people in my household.

Living in the South, I'm more bothered by August heat than January cold, but my sister lives in northern Michigan and I lived through a Turkish winter in snowy Ankara, so I totally understand.

Sending warm thoughts your way! May the groundhog not see his shadow on Thursday!

Normally I'd be on the suck-it January band wagon, but this year has been surprisingly warm! (it's like 60 freaking degrees today. It's amazing!) Hope you get some springy weather up there soon!

Agree with SP. Move further south and you won't even notice winter!

I think January is the best time of the year. Nice and cold winter. If I could delete some days from the calendar it would be 24. and 25. December >:)

Cold As Heaven

Hehe, I'm an Aquarius, and yep, possibly a bit odd or perhaps 'random' or 'obscure' are kinder words ;)

Best time of year? - each season I can be heard proclaiming "I LOVE winter!" or spring/summer/autumn with equal enthusiasm.

When we get long hot summers I complain (4 days above 40C is a bit much, that's over 100 in your language - 10 days of that is really stretching the friendship) Sue

Pretty much this time of year sucks like a Hoover for me. It's dark, cold, the holidays (and days off from work) are behind us, and I'm still trying to financially recover from holiday spending.

I hate December. I don't like Christmas, I don't like the cold, I don't like going into debt, and the traveling on horrible roads. Good riddance to December.

Bah Humbug.

You know I really don't have a hated time of year. These months are good for writing spooky stuff. ;)
