Dragon Speaks

So I am crawling out of the crypt. I feel a little like my fingers are bloodied and I am inching my way slowly. Hubby's health stuff is not moving much, which is stressful—I feel like he's strapped to me and I am having to pull him along for each inch I move. But I have heaved past the revisions my editor needed (One polish round still needs finishing, but the big work is done). It scares me a little that I need to keep plugging through the whole book to accommodate the changes, but I can pace myself more on that. For NOW, I turn to finishing my ABNA tweaks, as ABNA is OPEN. More on that tomorrow.

Today, I wanted to give you a heads up.

He looks menacing, but I love dragons.
It starts the Lunar New Year, otherwise known as the Chinese New Year. And it is the Year of the Dragon. More specifically, it is an Earth Dragon in Water year (most stuff says Water Dragon—I can't figure out what the subtlety is about): The Black Dragon.

Happy Black Dragon New Year!

Whether that is good news or bad news for you depends on your animal and element. This site will help you figure that out.

Here are the fortunes: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/yearly-forecast/fortunes-2012.htm

If you don't know your sign and element, it is probably best to go here first: http://www.geomancy.net/reports/free-report/freerpt-element.htm

I've known for years I was a fire horse. I had had NO CLUE that I had an element besides that—it looks like it might be related to western astrology signs, as mine is 'weak water' (Cancer is also water and I am early in it). The other new information I found that I LOVE is in the Chinese calendar I was born the 5th day of the 5th month. Five has been my favorite number since I was (you guessed it) five.

But other than that vague 'it will be a good year' what does a dragon year have in store generally?

The Feng Shui forcast says this:

“this year is going to be a transformational life-changing year! Generally, there are more goodies in store for you in the year 2012 than 2011. It’s a good year to improve oneself, take calculated investment risks and to build wealth. The year 2012 holds much promise and may be a major transition in your life. Whether it turns out extremely good, or really bad, will depend on how you ride the mighty Water Dragon!

The three powerful stars present in the year’s chart are the Star of Aggressive Sword, the Star of the External Flower of Romance and the Star of Powerful Mentors.”

The rest of that site was trying to sell amulets, so I will leave their grim predictions there...

This depressing site that looks like the equivalent of the Farmer's Almanac (and helpfully explains that earth and water thing—water ON earth) predicts a bunch of earthquakes and water disasters (erm... and epidemics). But thankfully less violent fighting:
http://www.fengshuitoday.org/features/the-year-of-the-dragon (not incompatible with those pesky Mayans)

But I am going forward hopeful, as for a fire horse who is weak water, it is predicted to be a good year. And my personal horoscope gave years when things would be 'lucky' versus unlucky in terms of financial fortune and unless I live past 105, the rest of my life looks lucky (the first half looked pretty darned grim—a truism)--so I've got that going for me...

I wish you all a great year. Please pay some homage to the moon and go out and dance naked tonight, even if there will be no moonlight...

Hehe, I'll be dancing naked under the moon with you! I don't know much about Chinese zodiac. All I know is that I'm a metal rooster ... does that mean someone should put me on their mantel piece to gather dust? :o) Hope your hubby gets well soon!!!

As I suspected... I'm screwed. :-P

I already know that the start of this year is going to suck, but that from March 11 it'll suck a little less (because I'll be in Paris and the UK!), but still, the suckiness is rather paramount. Bah. And to think I thought the end of last year would be the end of suckiness for a while!

I still have hope that the rest of the year after its beginning will be much preferable for me though.

This is year is the time to get fully and most NAKED!!

LOL!!!

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!

I'm a water rooster - full of pedantic contradictions! LOL! So I say "raspberries! Let's just get Naked!"

Take care

I'm weak wood, fire horse. I'd forgotten we're both Libras, Hart, before reading this post. Happy Chinese New Year! I feel like it's going to be a great one!

hey tartlette - a fire horse - why of course you are! I'm a full-metal rabbit or a tin bunny. I just had my year - you get it when you are in your sixtieth year. Kind of weird though since I don't get too much of it- it having started last Feb and me only turning sixty in December but we'll see. We Tibetan Buddhists celebrate our new year on Feb. 22nd - called Shambhala Day around here. Sometimes it coincides with the Chinese New Year but not often. I am looking forward to the year of the Water Dragon. Dragons are good years - our last one was 2000 - when, by the way, there were also messages of doomsday. hmmm...
I hope both your and my year turn out to be stronger and more positive than we've been given this last year.

ha! i'd never heard of this stuff before.
i'm a strong yang metal dog- which i've decided needs to be the name of my rock band if i ever decide to start one (i'd need to develop some kind of musical talent first.)

i thought you were calling it the year of the dragon, because of THE HOBBIT coming out at the end of the year! :) SMAUG FTW!!!!

DAH!!! i just did my husband's and he has luck against him from the year we got married until he's 81.
i think i have a bone to pick with the chinese zodiac! :P

It's too cold to dance naked! Isabella was born at the end of the Fire Dragon year. Maybe that is why she has such a strong personality. Roxanne is a horse like you only she is a Water Horse. Might be why she is so emotional.

No naked dancing for me! No dancing period for that matter.
Glad revisions are going well and sorry your husband's health is still struggling.

I like years that are called "Dragon" instead of "boar" or "rabbit". They sound so much more interesting.

Jessica *snort* Go with that! (and thank you!)

Leanne-I'd think a triple Pisces would do well in water! Especially one who loves dragons!

Trisha-vacations always help the outlook!

Jenny-teehee--your description cracks me up.

Nicole-I didn't realize we were born the same year!

Jan-oh, interesting that the doomsday observations come on dragon years! And that last one didn't come true, so that's promising...

Vic-NICE--love it for a band name. And yes, Smaug is coming! (my hubby's luck has been lousy his whole life but should turn around in 2014, so that is something...)

Majorie-I think water mellows the horse--they have the qualities, but not obnoxiously so--fire is the worst case scenario (we used to be euthanized in China)

Alex-oh come on... just a little wiggle? You know you want to!

Hart Johnson said...

Michael-don't they, though? There really is great promise to a dragon (if a bit of danger)

My daughter is a horse too! An unbroken horse!! If Chinese astrology is correct it sounds like this is going to be your year!

Don't know a thing about it, but you've gotten my interest up, so I will have to look! Thanks!

Happy Chinese New Year!

I love the picture of a dragon. They're some of my favorite creatures.

Hello mz TART...

It's been ages. I couldn't help thinking of you today with submissions for ABNA.

Last year seemed to me a lot more hype about it. So much more subdued this year. Hmmmm.

Are you entering a new novel or K? I am giving BG another try. We shall see.

Sorry to hear about your husband. I hope he gets well very soon.

Heading south soon, so if you need any fizzy whizzbees, or cockroach clusters, let me know.

ahh, this is all fun stuff. So do we get the same fortunes or are we different since we were born in different years? As for the ABNA, GOOD LUCK!!! And here's hoping hubs is all back to "normal" soon. ;p ((hugs)) <3

Dancing naked in the pale moon light, I'm so there. Um...I think I should leave my subdivision and find some nice private woods so that I'm not arrested.

Happy New Year, and it looks like your forecast is wonderful! Year of the dragon just sounds lucky to me (maybe because this is the year I'm writing a novel with dragon shape-shifters- how fitting!). I don't know what I am, but I want to look it up now. Hope your hubs gets better soon!

Welcome back, Ms. Fire Dragon! And may the cheerful predictions all come true, and ditto for your hubby.

I knew I was born in the year of the snake, but not that I was a strong yang Earth Snake. Very cool.

Sarah Ahiers said...

huh. that was fun. I'm a weak fire rooster. Roosters are good this year, but weak fire is not, so i have to be careful.
Phsaaa, i'm always careful
