And So It Begins: IWSG Post - June

June has arrived, and with it, BuNoWriMo and the starting of a new book. I've been reading young adult books all winter and spring and feel fairly ready to approach this, this time with a bit more of a plan than I typically have. I've never been a total pantser. Well... I have, back before I understood how to finish a books. But for me, if I don't know where I am going, I can write myself into a corner, so I've been what I call a timeliner since I got back to writing. This time around I actually have a much more detailed plan. I have THEMES (gads, are you serious?) and a background mystery to go with the frontground teen tale.

Writing balance: You can't touch this...erm...
Know what? The writing is going pretty well. It is the juggling other stuff I've forgotten how to do. Why do I have to have a job? Why does my family need to eat? Chores? POO! Why can't I be a kept woman who just writes?

Oh, that's right... because at the moment nobody is buying my books so that I can pay for being in such a position and the sugar daddy supply seems to have dried up...

Anyway, at LEAST the writing is flowing. I will be thankful for that. Clean house be damned.

I seem to know several people coming off a large funk. How is everyone doing? Writing flowing? Any tricks to balance you want to remind me of? (maybe my home and family have ALWAYS been neglected?)

So you should go see the OTHER insecure writers now...

It does seem like a lot of people are coming out of funks, doesn't it? I know I am.

Good for you, Hart - you can do this! And as long as the dust bunnies don't rise up and take over, your house is probably clean enough. :)

Glad to hear that the writing is flowing. Sounds like you not only have a plan, but a GOOD one, and I remain convinced that your incredibly hard work and talent some day surely will result in Sugar Writer-hood That Makes Sugar Daddy-ness Superfluous. So there! Yay you!

Awesome that you are in the groove!
Housework and chores are overrated.

Hope you have a great summer full of writing! There is no Clean House Police. :)

I've been reading a ton of YA books too and what's funny is that I started a YA/NA book, but I won't be focusing on it for a while. I'm thrilled that your writing is going well and I hope it stays that way! :)

It's always a good feeling when the writing flows.

I don't have a job, but I still have no time for writing. My husband says I am my own worst boss.

Housework and chores will be there tomorrow, even if you do them today. I say ignore them with pride. :)

Glad to hear the writerly flow is with you...

This whole summer thing with my kids has thrown me into a funk. I'm so off my game. But hopefully we'll all get adjusted and i can get back into the game of writing! FORGET the clean house!

My writing is going pretty good but I'm way behind on some outside work and housework. My daughter is overseas all of June so work keeps me from worrying about her.

I'm with you, Hart, the housework can wait! I remember my mother saying when I was young, that she realized when she did the housework, that the next minute the house was a mess again, so 'why bother?' (her words) and she never did! :-)

Hope your books start doing so well that you can ditch the job and hire house servants to do the chores.

I am trapped in the last 10k words of my current WIP and can't get out. I'm using housework as an excuse NOT to write. That signals true desperation, particularly since I have the final chapters already mapped out. I believe this is what is called writer's self-sabotage.

I'm with you, Hart. Sugar-daddy, housekeeper, cook--if you figure out an easy way to have it all, please share :D

There's enough dust in my house that I could plant a garden but I'm just too busy writing. As you said noting has sold yet, so I have to keep my day job.

I don't have any answers or magic. We do what we do and walk a fine line to get things done. Somehow that makes the time with the kids, or at work or writing special. We make time for what is important. Not only do we have incredible imaginations but we validate ourselves. And that's pretty okay with me. :-)

Yeah, my writing fell by the wayside for while. But I'm back at it now.

Glad your writing is going well. For me, there's always an ebb and flow, and I'm doing a lot of ebbing lately.

Ride that wave while you can!

"the sugar daddy supply seems to have dried up..." buahahaha!!! I love this.
I wonder the same things. If only I can lock myself up on a remote island and write write write. I wouldn't want to stop for eating! ;)

If you're inspired then everything else can wait! This is your bread and butter after all. I'm hoping to get out of my funk soon...

Just this last weekend I fell in a major writing funk (long story), but I'm slowly climbing my way out. Oh, for a life of luxury in which a man takes care of me and I can do whatever I damn well please. Sigh.

But I'm glad your own writing is coming along.

Maybe we should all get juggling lessons...

Balance? What's that?

(Says the guy who was buying groceries at 12:30am last night, got up at 5:30 to go to work and revised another chapter of his WIP on the bus)

I agree with coming out of a funk. I have a very small window to do some writing until I have to start a 2nd job search (mandatory overtime ended at work when we became fully staffed), so I've started working on a previously self-published book to bring up to my now exacting standards.
