Naked Farewell to Summer

I used to love fall. Back when I lived in a place with eight months of sprint, two of summer, two of fall and no real winter, I really thought fall was great. But since moving to Michigan with the seven month winter, fall has taken on a pernicious WINTER IS COMING place in my mind.

So in protest of fall, I am going to share some pics of my summer vacation.

What they do for fun in Hood River

The Childings at the Pacific Coast

The Zip lining in Stevenson Washington

Voodoo Doughnuts...

I don't WANT summer to go. Oh, sure, I love hot spiced cider and pumpkin scones. And I like the colors and am good with crisp nights and sunny days. So I suppose I should try to embrace fall, but summer really needs a good sendoff so it remembers to come back as soon as possible. So bon voyage!

I've decided that when kids are *little*, we are ready for summer to be over and school to start. But when kids are *older*, then life gets difficult for us when school is in session!

Those doughnuts look so good. And I'm gluten free! :(

I've always wanted to try Voodoo donuts.
We have five-six months of summer here, so fall excites me. Besides, that means football!

I'm not a winter person so I know fall means it's just around the corner. Great photos and now I'm hungry for donuts.

I'd love to do zip lining.

We don't get harsh winters here so they are still my favorite.

Our summer vacation was at the other coast; New York and New England. Boston had Dunkin Donuts shops on every corner.

Now I'm looking forward to winter, fresh powder and skiing >:)

I'm ok with summer ending. I just don't want WINTER or SNOW. Nice photos, BTW.

Our winters are much too long so although I love fall, it means the cold is coming. Brrr.

Oh, I don't know. I lived in a land that was always summer and spring (Hawaii) and I did love it. But it was wonderful to get back to the changing seasons, where something was always new.

...they didn't have voodoo donuts there. The Froot Loop ones look interesting...

I'm with you. I try to like Fall, but it just reminds me of winter to come.

I am SOOOOOOO with you on this, Hart...

We had a cold snap at the beginning of the month where our temps dropped down into the low 40's. HEAT Was clanking in my radiators. NOOOOOOOO! I nearly freaked out! After last winter, I almost died. I wanted to be long gone, but sadly I can't sell my condo. So here I am again....

Let's hope for a VERY LONG, LONG, LONG Autumn.

Here in Colorado summers last about three months, but sometimes we have late spring or early autumn blizzards that mess up everything. The winters are too long and I'm always glad when they're finally over. But they can't compare to the cold and endless white stuff you put up with in Michigan.

Maybe if we're both lucky autumn will last past Thanksgiving this year.
