Top 10 Movie Blogfest

Okay, friends, Alex is hosting one of his SUPREMO Blogfests today, and I thought I'd play along... the QUEST? What are your top 10 movies?

Now I'm not a super hip, stay on top of the current thing sort of person, so my apologies if I date myself... and chances are I will cruise through all of YOUR posts and remember dozens of OTHER movies I like even BETTER, but that is the nature of the beast, eh?

So here they are...

Lord of the Rings Trilogy (counting as one... so I cheat, though my favorite of them is The Two Towers—Aragorn is sexiest in that one *shifty*)

Silence of the Lambs (I love the complexity of the characters in this)

The Thing (the one from the 70s)

The Birds

Gone With The Wind (erm... I might have drooled on my keyboard... LOVE Rhett... also love what Scarlett finds in herself)

It's a Wonderful Life (my favorite feel-good)

Young Frankenstein

Princess Bride (BEST. LINES. EVER.)

Very Favorite Movie EVER: Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail (though Life of Brian is right up here, too)

Honorable Mention goes to the Harry Potter Movies. I love these, but mostly because they remind me of the BOOKS which I love a lot MORE, and because they were really a part of my life for so long (and the growing up of my childings)

You should definitely go see what everybody else picked, too.

  1. The Birds, great choice. That movie changed bird watching forever!

  2. Love every one of your choices, and OF COURSE I agree with The Two Towers being the best LotR movie due to the many fabulous smexy Aragorn moments (still have to fan myself when he bursts through the doors of Theoden's hall). *shifty*

  3. Ha! Love all your choices. And yes Princess Bride had the best lines of any movie out there. Great choices!

  4. I have Princess Bride up on my list too! And LOTR and Silence of the Lambs were also great movies. Fun choices! (:

  7. So far with this blog hop, I'd decided that I need to see more movies...until I got to Karen's site and yours! I'd seen 9 out of the 10 movies she'd listed, and all of yours! Great picks here.

  8. I see some of yours, I like too. But, my list already turned into two.

I've never finished Silence of the Lambs. It played with my mind too much. :)

  9. Yeah , Princess Bride! And of course I love the Lord of the Ring movies and Harry Potter, too. And must watch It's a Wonderful Life every Christmas. :)

  10. Great list! :) LOTR was no. 1 on mine.

  11. A lot of these movies made my list too. It's A Wonderful Life didn't, but I do really love that film.

  12. Great choices Hart. A lot of these are familiar. Gone With The Wind made my list too.

  13. AAARGH! How could I have forgotten THE PRINCESS BRIDE? There are so many great films out there -- perhaps next time it should be the TOP 20! Hope all is well on the homefront, Roland

  14. Princess Bride and Monty Python just missed my top ten! And yes, best lines ever.
Carpenter's The Thing is one of the best horror films ever made. Still holds up today.
Thanks for participating in my blogfest!

  15. That is a great list! I would never have thought you a Gone With the Wind fan. I knew Monty Python would end up here. :D

  16. Yay, The Birds AND Young Frankenstein, a watery woman after my own heart (hart?)! Please forgive my blog dis of A Wonderful Life, I didn't mean it. Can't believe this is the first time I've seen Princess Bride listed.

  17. It's A Wonderful Life is a classic, for sure and love your picks here :)

  18. Some great picks here. I'm afraid to watch Silence of the Lambs though...
I need to watch Princess Bride again. It's been ages!

  19. Very good choices. Princess Bride is one of the favorites, I see.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I love The Birds. Actually anything by Hitchcock and Gone With the Wind...it's entirely possible my husband seduced me with one single Rhett Butler quote!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I had to include all three movies for LOTR.

You know, I've never seen Gone with the Wind. I know, that's weird!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Wohoo Harry Potter! Princess Bride is a classic!

  23. I was wondering when Young Frankenstein would show up on one of the lists - one I neglected to add to mine.

  24. Following from the Top Ten Movie Countdown Blogfest.

Great choices, even though I don't think we had one movie listed in common! So hard to pick only 10.

Unfortunately, one of the things I remember about Silence of the Lambs was that my car was burglarized while I was inside the theatre. :(

  25. Ahh!!! The Birds, GWTW, Princess Bride! It's a Wonderful Life! All great ones! I don't know if I could narrow my list down. I love all of these~ :o) <3

  26. You seriously have some of my favorite movies of all time on here. :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Oh great list. Esp. The Thing. It still holds up today, imo.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I can't believe I forgot Harry Potter! And Monty Python FTW!!! :)

  29. _Jaws_ omitted? I am questioning your watery-ness.

    Maybe...she's a witch ! Yes, a witch ! ... And if she drowns? ... not a witch !

    I've been in that meeting.

  30. Nice that you included It's a Wonderful Life. Silence of the Lambs creeped me out - such an intense movie!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'm pleased to see Young Frankenstien and Monty Python's Holy Grail films included in your list. I would add one that I feel is the finest movie ever made... but then again, I ain't quite right in the head.
That movie would be: Yellow Submarine!

    ReplyDelete
  32. "Anybody want a peanut?"

The Thing scared the hell outta me. But I was maybe 12 when I saw it on cable.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Never saw The Thing (I scare too easy) but I totally agree with the rest of these. I love that you included The Birds.

    ReplyDelete
  34. The Birds is what made me stop watching horror. While I was watching it, I wasn't particularly scared but that night I had the freakiest nightmare ever and since then I can barely stomach horror movies. I think that means that movie did an excellent job of being scary!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Love your list!! Yay- Young Frankenstein- that'd be on my list!! and MP's Holy Grail- YES! :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. The Princess Bride does indeed have some wonderful lines. You've reminded me of an oldie great flick, All About Eve -- best bitchy dialogue ever; it's also shows us how intelligent, literate grown-ups used to talk.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Those Monty Python movies were great. Saw parts of Life of Brian not too long ago. I'll have to watch Holy Grail again. Its been a while since I seen it.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Young Frankenstein was a great movie
! I have an Abnormal brain, too, lol!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I had a hard time going out at our ocean trips after watching The Birds.

    .....dhole

  40. "What is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?"

MP And The Holy Grail is a classic!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Awesome choices here, though I admit I haven't seen all of them. I love Aragorn...anytime, any way. hehe. Silence of the Lambs is also in my DVD collection, as are the LotR movies, the Princess Bride and the Birds. Love Monty Python too :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Awesome list! Young Frankenstein is another I forgot all about. Had a hard time picking between Holy Grail and Life of Brian, but my missus's fave is the Meaning of Life... "It's only wafer thin!" :D

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oh, I loved SILENCE OF THE LAMBS and the 70s version of THE THING was great!

    ReplyDelete
  44. You mentioned some great ones I'd completely forgotten. Loved The Birds!

    ReplyDelete
  45. While I agree with you that "Princess Bride" produced some amazing quotes, I have to say in all fairness, so did some of the other movies. I'm particularly thinking of Gimli. :3
